the idea of a US based map has been brought up and duly shot down by a dev for being unrealistic .

I think setting the conflict in Iraq might be... unwise, given the politically sensitive nature of the conflict.

It may be best to set the 'war' in a near future event. If nothing else that gives the devs much more freedom with mod design.

Heres a rough outline for a time line/plot whereby the US becomes involved in a simultaneously middle and far eastern conflict:

15th September 2005: The Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz is assasinated by religious extremists.

20th September, 2005: Protests at the the harsh crackdown triggers a massive uprising, much of the armed forces refuse to combat the insurrection.

5th December, 2005: China Begins secretly arming Iran, using Russian intermediaries. In exchange for future oil Rights.

25th December, 2005: Series of spectacular attacks on US troops and Shi'ite civilians in Iraqi, several hundred Americans and over a thousand civilians killed. Insurgency gathers momentum.

1st febury, 2006: It becomes clear t he uprising was well planned and supported. A brutally efficient coup is orcestrated Saudi arabia is now controlled by religious extremists. the House of Saud flee to America or are put to death The US embassy is stormed by a mob, many hundreds killed, American staff evacuated.

2nd Febury, 2006: The US congress debates the situation, Enormous anger on the Arab streets at the 'embassy slaughter'

10th Febury, 2006: Oil prices hit 100 dollars a barrel, The US formally asked to leave Saudi arabia, Given 6 months to comply.

7th April,, 2006: US forces in Iraqi mistakenly bomb a mosque near Basra in the hunt for the 'Christmas bombers' over 400 killed. Massive spontaneous Shi'ite uprising.

9th April. 2006: Saudi Arabia halts oil production. Insurgents Hit pipelines across the middle east. Pro-American Gulf states paralyzed by rioting.

10th April. 2006: oil prices hit 200 dollars a barrel, rioting in American and European cities.

14th April. 2006: British troops speed their withdrawal from Iraq after requests from the nations Government.

28th April. 2006 Iranian Troops at the bequest of Shi'ite polititions annex much of southern Iraq, The few remaining British troops are isolated and do not fight. They are given one month to completely withdraw. Paralyzed by fuel shortages, the US army is unable to mobilize to prevent the action.

30th April. 2006: Iran tests a 26 megaton Nuclear weapon. 7 churches across mid-west and southern USA are bombed during morning services. A little known Terror group claims responsibility, stating the attacks are in response for the mosque deaths 3 weeks previously.

4th June: Amid fundamentalist calls for a new crusade, and an economy crippled by unprecedented oil prices, George Bush announces he will restore Democracy and the rule of international Law to the middle East.

5th June 2006:US Forces mobilize to 'liberate' Southern Iraq, backed by Britain, though the latter suffers massive demonstrations. Both are extremely hampered by fuel shortages.

15th June 2006: US planes begin Bombing Iranian assets in Iraq.

25th June 2006: All pro-US gulf states now in states of near rebellion, The US is unable to use any airbases in the region. The remaining Iraqi Client state remains the only region loyal to the US though that is crippled by insurgency.

15th June 2006: As US Forces become bogged down in the middle east, China Invades Taiwan. A joint US-British Naval Task Force on exercise in the region mobalise to support the Twainese. US and Chinese planes engage in combat for the first time since Vietnam, though neither country will officially declare war, wary of the others nuclear deterrent.

20th June, 2006:The invasion fares poorly, Chinese troops are held back by stiff Taiwanese resistence but never the less manage to gain footholds along the islands north perimeter.

Anyway this is a rough idea... but I think its all pretty reasonable as an idea to have a US-MEC/Chinese conflict. If you like it I can make a much better researched and presented version (hopefully after community editing)

first off i love the desert enviroment for battles i think its alot more fun than jungle IMO, i would take any DC map over any BFV map any day of the week and twice on sunday

plus id love to go thru some of the battles in GW2 and base objective or non objective type maps of those battles, like Fallujah, Al Garraf, Nasiriyah, Basrah and so on
