New kit icons???

Post by causticbeat »

how much leeway do we have with these? It gets tough sometimes to know whose what, especailly for default kits.

here is a proposed thing for the default kits, just took a classes "defining weapon" icon and moved it to the corner.

for specialty kits, i was thinking like a + or something..... DM = sniper symbol with a + in teh corner, sniper = regular sniper symbol, heavy at = light at symbol with a +, etc etc

if wanted, i could toss together the icons if i was given the file type/size/whatever info.

Yeah, this annoys me too, especially when I have to ask people in my squad what type of rifleman they took or to find out whether a squad leader has taken officer (good!) or support (bad!) before I join the squad. Yes, I could ask, but I'm lazy!

I imagine, though, that since icons are terribly easy to create compared to just about anything else that needs creating for a mod, that the 7 icons are hardcoded or more likely that there can only be 7 icons in total if the existing icons can be changed. I'm sure the devs have the correct answer though...so I'll shut up ;P

Don't worry I've been TRYING to get this changed for awhile, well before .5 came out in fact. But egg told me it's really difficult thing to change, it isn't as simple as just adding new icons and the like. Because uhm, I have a whole host of new icons for every class actually

This is it photoshopped.

Ok, I just made some in Paint.

Image (Rifleman - L85A2)
Image (Grenadier - L85A2 with L17A2)
Image (Rifleman Anti-Personnel - L85A2 with M18A1 Claymore)
Image (Rifleman Anti-Tank - L85A2 and LAW 80 crossed)
Image (Special Operations - dagger)
Image (Engineer - wrench)
Image (Medic - Red Cross)
Image (Anti-Tank - MILAN on tripod with requested kit symbol)
Image (Anti-Air - FIM-92A Stinger with requested kit symbol)
Image (Crewman - M6 Linebacker and requested kit symbol)
Image (Pilot - generic fighter airplane and requested kit symbol)
Image (Sniper - generic sniper rifle and requested kit symbol
Image (Marksman - QBU-88 and requested kit symbol)

Also, I made an alternate pilot symbol (Image), in case some people can't figure out that it applies to helicopters as well.

It looks good. To change things around, why do we even need it to have gray and yellow icons, to promote U.S. Army colors? I think we should just change it all into a new PR style.

Good work k30dxedle.

Thanks guys. I put gray and yellow because that was what I vaguely remembered was on the OP's screenshot. Anyone can modify those to their heart's and PR's content. Especially color.

You can make them bigger mate!

And like I said the problem is I don't think we can change it atm. The icons represent what character model your guy is using. But yeah those look real awsome, just try making them the same size I have on my picture, so they can be a little more detailed.

1. ...Oh. Well, I was just basically going by the original screenshot, where they were 15x15.
2. I know. Just in case you guys find a way to put them in, they're here. :)

:-o
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!
