How about adding something like random suicide attacks. On city maps when the US/Brits move deeper in to enemy terrirtory, have random explosions going off that could possibly kill anyone in the vacinity, say a shop window or a car.
Troops have to live with that possibility every day over there so it was just an idea.

What does this idea have to do anything with "suicide attacks". A suicide attack is when someone commits a suicidal act in which he has intended to also harm others in the process.
By the way this is "PROJECT REALITY", not Project Arnold Schwarzenegger movies.
Somewhat original idea though.

IRL, things tend not to explode randomly, but because some human agency is involved. If you want to do this in-game, hide some C4 in a bush.

Like McCleod said above; Hide some C4 in the bushes and wait til some unsuspecting schmuck walks by. Preferrably more than one as it would be a waste of a good C4 charge to get only one enemy soldier.'[R-DEV wrote:IronTaxi']good tension maker.... how can it be applied to the play enviornment though....hmmm...
Just a thought.

How is that anything but annoying?

I meant IED attacks when i said suicide attacksSoulja wrote:Explosions ramdomly going off near troopswouldnt be that bad, would help simulate IED attacks and stuff w/o the insurgents doing it.
But yea you get the idea. I'm not interested in how it would be coded in be it C4, or the effects of the arty hitting the ground rather than the visual and audio effects of arty, maybe even another way. As long as the end result is some form of explosion that occurs at random times say twice per map on city maps, once on the open air maps etc and can hurt both teams in the vicinity of where the IED attack occurs.
This would then add the unseen enemy factor troops face.

I kinda get your idea now. Random IED attacks
.
It’s not a bad idea, maybe some areas of the map they could have this "IED attacks". It could simulate a high risk area of the city or something. They could even have markings on the US map to remind troops to move with caution at those areas, but it can also be an important root so people at some point would actually need to pass through it instead of just ignoring it.

if they did this, the explosions would have to be in fixed positions because there is no randomization code in BF2, so people would eventually figure out the general areas of the strikes and they would avoid the area.Soulja wrote:Explosions ramdomly going off near troopswouldnt be that bad, would help simulate IED attacks and stuff w/o the insurgents doing it.
neat concept though, just doesn't seem too doable.

Really cool idea. I don't know about having maps telling where they would explode. They should be totaly random, but definitly not frequent. This would keep people from bunching up and maybe even get people on both sides of the street/alley/etc.
and i don't think its doable either, but its still cool to imagine.

Good idea. Obviously random/timed intervals maybe 7-8 mins but yeah it would be good. No doubt some insurgents would be hurt too because sunni/shiite militias so it has a fair effect and it isn't one sided.

Supply crate drifting is random, right? Perhaps it could spawn the explosives in the air (invisibly) that will float down randomly over a particular area/street. That way the most people can do is figure out that this particular block is prone to IEDs, but never know where and when exactly it will hit.
