From another thread:
This reminds me of drivers being punished for Idiots who jump out of moving cars and die from the injury. Is there some environmental damage it can be attributed to like when you walk too close to a burning car so that the drivers don't suffer for idiots. I have had this happen and the riders NEVER asked for me to stop or anything. They get bored and jump out, die, then punish.
Yes a driver could be a a real **** and never stop driving around in circles but sooner or later an enemy will come or you can hop out and never get in with that driver again. Just it is more likely passengers will make the bad choice to hop out.
Thanks for all the good work, just picking nits.

Whining .... thanks I think I'll have some of that.
There has to be more personal responsibility for TK's.
The morons who jump from speeding vehicles or the giant A holes who jump in front of speeding vehicles need to get the negative points on them for getting their clearly oxygen deprived brains smeared all over my new vehicle.

And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

It should ask you if you want to punish yourself for winning the Darwin award and jumping from a vehicle that is going 50 miles an hour or bunny hopping into an on comming vehicle. The nimrod would probably end up punishing their self too
Bunny from Platoon "... I get this bad feeling. I told the padre the truth man, I like it here. Get to do what you want, nobody f#@%$ with you. The only worry you got is dying. And if that happens you won't know about it anyway..."

It maybe a server side issue on how things are setup. Or it maybe that the exit points on the side of the cars makes it easy for someone to take damage directly from the car also which would be the last damage dealt to the idiot jumping out. As the server looks at who gave the last damage before the death it sees the driver of the car, instead of whatever is normally credited with the death.
It's a hard one to sort out as you can't take away the ability to punish in case someone gets stupid and decides to run the whole team down. I am not seeing any game logic that would provide an easy answer. Similar problems with armor and apcs when troops gather around for cover and the vehicle driver needs to "bug out" because Heavy AT is lighting them up. It's one thing if I am a driver of an APC and I find a place I thought was safe to drop my passengers off and then I get lit up. In that case I will drive forward and then turn to try to get away as backing up would kill most of the people who got out (For US Apc). However if I am moving along and troops sneak up from behind to take cover I may not see their location to me on the mini-map and I don't feel I should have so much blame if I back over them.
Anyway a sticky situation which I guess can't be fixed due to the subtle differences in each death by vehicle.
