Can we get engineers with placeable sandbags now?

Post by Cyber-Couch »

I figure it could be done the same way a rallypoint is set, only with one of the weapon slots and point/click instead of command rose. Can it be done? I would love to set up defenses for my own squad while defending a point.

Actually I don't know if this is planned. BF2:Sandbox shows that such an idea is indeed quite possible though.

Would be kinda... Slow, seeing how long it can take to set up a sandbag position, especially by one man alone. And if it was made instant or nearly instant, then it would be quite silly and unrealistic. Perhaps you could think of a logical reason for it to happen in such a way or another way to implement it.

Well, Whitlow, the whole mod is already unrealistic, no game is realistic. It can be a simulation, but PR's combat is more fast paced than real combat so it would be reasonable to place sections of sandbags with restrictions on how many.

Carrying 20bags of sand across open terrain isn't exactly realistic....

Maybe make it a requestable kit that must be put within say.... 65 meters of a friendly base, along with a 5 minute set up time.

With a 5 minute set up time - no one would use it. Of course an instant drop isn't realistic, but most of the mod isn't realistic already. You have to balance it all, and so if the sandbag placement time was realistic it would just seem out of place with the unrealistic things in the mod. Just balance the realism with reasonable.

THAT ammo truck...THAT one!

THAT could carry these bags of sand and be a kit choice from there?

Can do it in DCX ...quite fun blocking the A.I on SP, nubs :D

Maybe it could be like a capture point, the more people near it the faster it gets built

Seing as how all of the action in BF2 takes place AFTER the battlefield has gone hot, That is, after the shooting starts, I think it would be downright unrealistic to be filling sandbags under those circumstances.

Seriously, sandbag firing positions are not erected under fire.

All the marine's entrenching tools would have been left under their bunks back on the carrier.

Kinda cool idea, but not realistic at all in the context of this game.
