You guys keep talking about swapping this stick for that stick and so on ..... you do realize that you really should be using a matched set ....

That doesn't really matter unless you're using dual channel.

Not sure if anyone has said this and I'm not reading through 7 pages of this thread, so... don't use more than 2 gigs of RAM on your computer.

Any reason? Oh and currently I am using Two 512 Corsair sticks on slots 1 and 2 and two **** 256 MB's on slots 3 and 4 thinking of getting another set of 512's.

It could be just me and my comp, but it seems like the more I play Basra, the less laggy it plays....

True, but what kind of rig are you running if your not dual channel ... unless your using some ancient mother board ..... and if thats the case, dont waste any money on memory, and just upgrade it all .....

Ye thats to do with the Load of the map, See it just loads the area that your in when u start, And when u move a bout its loading up the other parts of the map but its all so loading other parts so by the time its done loading ur lagg should settle down to a min

2 gigs here. Basrah (At least I think that's the one I got lag on - it had A-10s, insurgents, AH-1Z rape, a "Palace" at the southeast and insurgents) gives me bad FPS in certain areas, really bad. I spoke to other people on the server and some replied saying they also had bad FPS on it. At it's worst, it lags the second I move my cursor. At other times it's fine, 90-100fps. All other maps are fine.

:-(

I'm running an AMD Sempron 2800+ with an ASUS A7V8X-X Motherboard with 2*512 + 1*1024 of DDR 400 RAM and a GeForce 6600 GT 128mb AGP 8x.

Yea, it's somewhat ancient but it works :D

I forgot exactly why, but it has something to do with it having difficulty processing more than 2 gigs and it slows your computer down. If that sounded stupid it's because it probably is, but I can't remember the exact reason. I just know a bunch of tech savvy told me that 2 gigs is better than 3 or 4.

That is not 100% true - read on the attached word document [in zip file].

Well seems like with Vista I need to go 3GB [but that might not even help]! When I tested Albasrah once I got right near the city PR basically froze, heck it took BF2 to go to main menu about a 2 minutes!

This is with my new 8800GTS. In WinXP-Pro I get a very small pause the first time I enter the city but after that I am in the soild 60+ FPS. This is with 1600x1200 all high settings [no AA].
