Kit Layout: Crewman
Now that 0.5 has been out for a while.. I only really could find one aspect that hasn't been addressed (to the best of my knowledge). That one improvement would be to possibly add a set of binoculars to the crewman kit. This would help in spotting out enemy armor and planning routes a little easier.. If you believe this would give the crewman kit too much power than I would suggest giving them a "weaker" rifle or a pistol.
Another implementation of this would be to leave the kits the same.. but enable the driver of the vehicle to have some sort of zoom.. perhaps you could even simulate it to looking into binoculars.. Well.. I'm sure you get the idea.... thanks for reading...
Best Regards,

They dont need binos.
They do however need a proper PDW type weapon in place of thier assault rifles.
US: M4 (Not the M4A1 the SF has, the one with safe-semi-burst and a fixed carry handle)
UK: L22A1/A2 (actually issued to heli pilots IRL, but they'll be keeping thier pistols me thinks) or just keep the iron sighted L85A2.
MEC: P90. a PDW thats is in use in the region, and so its inclusion is realistic. Or the HK53 could be used, I suppose. But the P90 would be my preference.
PLA: Type-05 SMG

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Your point being?
If this game follows reality, the Brits will get full size assault rifles, the US carbines, the PLA goodness knows what (Type-95 carbine? Type-05? Type-85?) and the MEC will have anything the devs feel they can justify.
Remember, its about asymetrical warfare. While, say the MEC P90 might not be as accurate as the US M4, it has a larger magazine, lower recoil and full auto.

Problem is there is no SMG that would be relevant with the USMC/Army seeing how the Military isn't going to arm their tankers with an extra expensive SMG when they can give them an M4 that is already in mass production and they have already trained with... Doesn't really make all that much sense to me. Then there's the issue of supply. Why have the Tankers have their own little section of the supply base where all their 9mm for their MP5s goes? It's already more expensive than the .223, but have them buy extra 9mm for the tankers when they could just use the M4 with the same round that everyone else has and is cheaper and they have trained with and a million other reasons to justify it.

I was frustrated with the enability to get a crewman kit when needed. I believe this will be tweaked in .508, no?

Allowing the driver to zoom would be great.
____
Why can't the support two seater jeep rearm as well as repair the armour?
___
I did a lot of reparing of tanks in the support jeep at Greasy Mullet (great map), and the good news is I had the most repair points out of 62 players. The bad news, I only got 1 point.
Not that points matter, and I do not keep tanks up for points. But IMO keeping tanks up is very important.
__
I think it would be nice for the crewmen to have some kind of short range weapoin (shotgun) But I am good with what we have now.

Personal Defense Weapon. It has sort of become a substitute term for a machine-pistol or sub-machine-gun, but only when it is issued to personnel who are not expected to be in a front-line, dismounted combat situation all the time and/or have limited space (such as AFV crews and aircrew).huleboeren wrote:What is PDW short for? :S

I think the bino's would be a nice addition to the crewman kit. Especially if the driver wants to hop out so the engine turns off and you can ambush the enemy.
Usuallly I'll team up with an APC as a spec ops and jump on it's turret, turning myself into a mini commander. It's saved the APC's arse from getting pounded by enemy armour a few times i'll admit.

Do you guys thank the Quatermaster should allow a request for a crewman kit for a three man squad?
I do.
Reason: one squad in two tanks makes for dysfuncion if the communication is not spot on.
A squad of three/armour would be:
crewman X 2
Engineer X 1
The engineer wathces the six of the A.P.C. and provides repairs when needed and sweeps the area and for mines and gets them up. He/she also helps with mineing and blowing up enemy vehicles that are threating to the A.P.C.
Note: I see the A.P.C. as a support role rather than a Assault role.
