as i said before, if you are in a firefight, and those 2 drums last, then you are not giving enough suppresion fire.
You should give enough fire to keep thier heads down so they wont see that your squad is going around to flank them.
and its not realistic at all, and this mod being Project "REALITY", the support gunner should have at least 3-4 TOTAL drums.

Dont change it, every gun is the way it should be.

The rifleman has a brilliant and unique power...he has ammo which helps out the whole squad and is vital for support or AT. The reason that noone wants to be rifleman is because they want to Rambo it rather than help the squad as a whole to become more powerful.'[3rd wrote:Sonders']Rifleman: Knowone wants to be rifleman, nothing usefull in the kit.
If a support guy (or for that matter anyone with a rifle) is laying down suppressive fire, then he is working for the squad rather than himself. If someone else in the squad, who is clearly benefiting from this suppression isn't prepared to carry the ammo, then that is selfish players, not the game, letting you down.
*** EDIT ***
I feel this "more ammo" argument is a bit like saying everyone should have more field dressings because people aren't prepared to be, or know how to be, effective medics.

The verbal brutality found on forums is often reminiscent of the physical brutality found in first person shooters, except that forums allow those with slower reflexes to join the carnage without a handicap.

I realised that ammo-giving wasn't quite as profitable as healing, but I had assumed you still got the vanilla level of points (i.e. very few on a PR scale). Yes, increasing ammo-giving-points would be a very good idea for encouraging the masses to give ammo. Those that don't care about points are usually working for the squad anyway, and so they don't need any more encouragement.bosco wrote: Noone wants to be rifleman because you don't get points for giving ammo.

Yes, that seems to have happened. Someone on the LAN was downloading the moon while I was trying to post, so I probably got impatient and went on a multi-post spree! Sorry everyone!bosco wrote:I guess you pressed the wrong button?![]()

I can only say it definetely for 0.4 but you got no points for ammo at all then!Nephrmuus wrote:I realised that ammo-giving wasn't quite as profitable as healing, but I had assumed you still got the vanilla level of points (i.e. very few on a PR scale). The other thing I forgot to say about riflemen is unlimited field dressings! No medic is near enough/the medic is played by an idiot/medic is dead/you just love being John Rambo? Just get into cover, drop an ammo pack and spam field dressings (it isn't nearly as fast as a medic, but it will save your life or the life of a wounded squadmember in a tight spot). Frankly, if anything I'm starting to worry that rifleman is perhaps too attractive, especially when more forces get scopes in their rifleman kit
**EDIT**
Sadly, although the scoped rifleman will drag more people to rifleman from specops, it won't encourage them to actually drop ammo...but one step at a time ;P

Yea I deffinatly agree, ammo is in to small of a quantity for support gunners, give us more drums and belts please.
I play support quite often as I like carrying a beast around, but I blow ammo way to quickly just doing my job, which is supporting my fellow troops.
I try and get ammo off a rifleman, forget it, its hard enough to get a medic to help you let alone get more ammunition.

how can you compare medic to rifleman?
most of the people want somthing to contribute to themselfs. As medic, you can heal yourself, which in this mod, is a very important thing.
But as a rifleman, there is nothing that can help you. If you say the ammo, im going to hit you in the head with the stick of stupidity. Rifleman get 9 total mags for his rifle. By the time he gets down to 4, he will be dead. If he does wast all his ammo, he doesnt know how to shoot.
The rifleman kit is unattractive because there is nothing to benifet from it.
The support kit is unattractive because there is barley any ammo for it, and people dont want to shoot for 1 min, then spend 5 min looking for a rifleman, supply crate, etc.
So i say, the best thing to do is to give scopes to the rifleman (which is already happening) and to give the support 4 total drums.
