Any Snow maps, and weather?

Post by Gunwing »

I was just thinking how cool it would be to have some maps that take place high up in the mountains of China or during the cold winter months in China. We all know it happens there and it would rock to be a USMC soldier runing around in winter camo and fighting PLA troops in winter camo. That I never liked that we never got a chance to play in the snow in BF2.

Just an idea. I mean we could also do snow storm maps like the sand storm map we have now only it's all snow. I like snow and the more weather effects the better. Mabe you could even add in some rain to some of the PLA maps that has gray skys on it. It dose not have to be realy realistic looking like it is in say BF2142, but it would just add to the gameplay if there was more weather going on in these maps.

hehe, snow maps we might do at some point but to do it we would have to reskin all of our stuff etc and make a extra skin for all of that.

also we cant do the kinda snow effect that is in BF2142 as that is built into that engine, we could make our own custom effect but it aint very good and causes lots of lag...

I would love snow as you could say Pla forces are bogged down due to the harsh mongolian winter........

Heavy fog/rain would be interesting. Would provide a nice CQC enviroment. Add in Helo's to the equation as well and it could become quite dangerous.

Maybe the map description could say a blizzard rolled in, and no one was prepared, but the operation still has to go ahead, even without the proper camo.

Mongolian winter sucks. If you're gonna do snow it's gotta be in the Himalayas. It'll be Hills of Hamyong X 100,000. Damn straight!

It'll be mainly air vehicles and infantry. Can't see any sort of heavy vehicles on these maps. Maybe the Tibetan plateau. You could also reduce stamina of all soldiers to give off the effect of minimal oxygen. Now that's hardcore. God, that area really is the worlds worst battlefield. Hard to beleive that actual conflicts happened in that area, it's tough enough just to make it through - but to do that + be in combat? That's just hell...

Ya the devs could do a level called "Have you Seen the Rain?", and the loading music could be Creedence Clearwater Revivals song, "Have you Seen the Rain?" Its a perfect concept!

PS: I have been having a CCR fedish lately... :)

We had a snow map, but it was taken out due to it's gameplay problems.

If anything. The US/UK forces would be bogged down in the Himalayas/Wintery areas. With less experience in those conditions. Not trying to stir anything up here, but we were kinda bogged down even in Afghanistans mountains. This is a whole 'nother level. But lets not go there, as far as we're concered...both teams are just as good and it would be upto the player - it's a game.

Mountain warefare is the only thing many games have yet to touch. It'd be awesome to see it in PR.

I forget the name of the map with the sandstorm going on (the one with the big buildable wall at the Canyon, but can't you instead replace the sand with lighter color and it be like a blizzard or fog?
