Iraqi freedom themed maps?

Post by Gunwing »

Are we going to some day get some maps based on operation Iraqi Freedom? I would love to roll around on a map like that as both british and US soldiers fighting insurgents. There could be a a whole map based soly on the battle that took place between USMC forces and Insurgents. All we would need is some T-55s/T-72s, and some BMDs, and a AAVP7 or two and we could be roling down the big highway to Bhagdad fighting Mercinaries and insurgents.

It won't be that organized. Al Basrah and Al Fallujah is semi-OIF themed.

Do you mean Iraqi Army? as suppose to insurgents. If so I agree with you. Id like to see that. But it would be iraqi republican gaurd, etc. Not snack bars.

To be honest, I am quite happy that most PR maps are more or less fiction.
I think everyone knows the paralels to Iraq, but it hasn`t to be that obvious, additionally there are already too many sucky games about Iraqi Freedom.

I'm tired of the USMC/US Army always being superior. More jungle maps, perhaps a South American or African? :)

PR is set in about 2012. There is lots of room for insurgent vs US or insurgetn vs Brit combat, but its not the same Iraq war we are in right now. We've already got some revamped storylines for basrah ;)

I thought Iraqi Army were our "allies", correct me if im wrong, its the insurgents and former red guard who we are fighting. People loyal to Saddam, taliban, and other radical Islamic groups.

We mean the old Iraqi Army pre-2003. Like this guy:

Well, the story is fictional so that wouldn't be too hard. Something off the top of my head would go along the lines of...

"With allied forces concentrating on China's Eastern Front, U.S forces launch Operation Blinding Strike (bad name I know :p ) in an attempt to catch Chinese forces off guard by pushing forces through the Gobi Desert, and spreading the Chinese forces "thin". However, MEC intelligence catches wind of the operation, and warns China that the aliied forces threaten their western front.

China immediately assigns General Jackie Chan; Nicknamed the DragonSlayer, and his elite 6th Army to defend the region. The operation commences on Nov. 16th, 2011 at 3:00am in the morning, when U.S paratroopers drop down in the area."

And bla bla bla after that. ;-)

Hate to burst your bubble but Saddam wasn't a favourite of radical Islamics. He for all intents and purposes set up a secular (ie non religious) state and a lot of the radicals disliked him for it.

Im not a big fan of Iraqi "freedom" , and since this is a fictionaly conflict , dont see how a old conflict can be revived .

Yea I would love this idea eventually for PR, especialy adding in the T55's, 72's BMD'S ect.
They would make good additions to the mod as they are used very widely around the world, and produced in great numbers.
Highway to Bhagdad, I can just see that map now, damn that would be awesome in this mod. Excellent firefights, IED's, and some good armour slug fests as well.
