Why is the MEC's main rifle a G3A3?

Post by Outlaw289 »

Just wondering. Are they available wholesale for cheap or something? Do a lot of middle eastern nations currently use them?

MEC faction is not depicting terrorists. It is depicting Middle Eastern Armies come together, such as Irans, Iraq's republican Guard, Pakistans army, etc. Unfortunately there not broke like there terrorist counterparts.

I know they're a standard army, when did I say they're terrorists?

I just figured if an entire region was going to use a standard battle rifle, it would most likely be an AK variant because they're cheap and readily available from Russia. Thats why I thought the AK-101 made sense in vanilla BF2. Unless, of course, the G3 and others are being produced by Iran under license.

Heh, this would make a good replacement for the MEC Special Forces MP5.

Again, tell me when I said "why are they not using AK47s like durka durka towel heads". I'm asking why a modern army would use a bulky, cold war era weapon that defies current assault rifle designs, meaning: light, compact, range 300meters and under, compared to heavy, bulky, made for marksmanship and medium-long distance combat.

I searched for G3 and nothing came up. Just tried again with G3A3 and saw what you were talking about.

And since most of the ME is desert, what's wrong with medium/long range engagements and marksmanship? And with all their money, the MEC could afford something better than an AK. The G3 is here to stay (although in another variant :wink :) , period.

Oh, and the MEC MP5 isn't an MP5, it's an HK53, a sub-machinegun-sized carbine chambered for 5.56 NATO.

More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.
