Using enemy vehicles
So pretty much in this game the knowledge of how to fly is in the crewman kit etc. So if I kill a crewman who jumped out of his APC I should be able to use that APC!

thats a good idea but like for tanks/apcs/helos/planes make it 2 min and humvees and stuff 30 secondsliikeri wrote:why not put it back but lets ad ten minute of start time to simulate you going trough every button to figure out what they do and random deaths to you in a tank because of wrong button. if you know how to drive m1 you probaply can drive other tanks but you need time to figure them out.
but u need to kill an enemy with the correct kit

Now This I can agree with.bosco wrote:Other idea: You can drive enemy cars, but there's warmup time of 20 seconds which simulates the process of hot-wiring. (Even if the HWMMV has a start button)
We should not be able to operate elaborate Enemy vehicles, only civillian vehicles, light armoured vehicles ect, insurgent transport truck ect ect.

Humvees and similar light transport assets (ie. Vodnicks) should really be operable by anyone. Startup time variations for these cars should really be zero. (Who takes the keys out of the ignition on the battlefield anyways? Do you really want to fumble for the keys when you need to "get up and go"?) Plus I'm sure most people would know how to operate the top machine gun if they can operate an RPK. Maybe lock the TOW missiles from firing on the account that MEC dont have training on those things? Who knows.
Heavy armor, helo, jet locks -> Great the say it already is, lets not change a wonderful thing.
APCs -> I'd say make them drivable by anyone if their irl controls are nothing more complicated than your mother's car, and possibly lock the turret, but on the account that they're mobile spawn points now, best to keep them locked.
In short, keep things the way they are in .5, but for god sakes let people capture and use things like humvees and vodnicks. I mean any 14 year old that has played a game of initial d at the local arcade would know how to use the wheel and the pedals. And i'm pretty sure the top mounted lmgs arent that hard to be understood by a military man either.

Ive seen with my own eyes, bombed british landrovers being taken for joyrides in basra. in real life, not the mapLucid Nightmare wrote:Keep them team locked. Do you really think a soldier is going to drive round a battlefield in an enemy vehicle that he just stole? No, that is a definite way of getting your arse blown to bits by friendlies.

The insurgents in Iraq seem to like to take captured allied jeeps and such for joyrides, and trophies of war. Not sure how much of an advantage hijacking a technical would give to an allied soldier, but i could definitely see why insurgents would like to use captured humvees. Especially the uparmored ones.
Sides, it isnt unknown for special forces inserted behind enemy lines to commandeer civy cars to escape. Saw something about that on the milt channel. Think it was the one about the HALO team inserted in the beginning stages of the war on terror. If i find it again I'll post a link or something.
