Did you ever get anything on this? Were you able to make your PR game look like the PR movie? I tried to bump the original post but it's to late cause it's archived now I guess. Just wondering what ever happened with this.

would like to know too... put me at a very large tactical disadvantage by not being able to see much, but it'd look fuckin sweet.

I just got a new x1300 and im running medium all and 4xaa and i too want to know how to run bf2 in a different color theme.

Running a different colour theme is cheating. You could make all of the skins bright green, and the terrain dark brown.

The movie got it's look by editing the video, not by editing how the game looks.

Ah, I was under the impression that they adjusted the gamma, brightness and contrast to get that look. Maybe they did edit the video I can't say for sure. That just how I heard it. If it is a cheat I wouldn't be asking about it, since I hate cheaters. Even glitchers and exploit users I have no use for. Hehehe...

Do believe it's called "color correction"... It's perfectly legal, just edits the way an image is filtered before output to your monitor.

Look @ the PRM "films" then look @ your gameplay.

There are obvious differences.

The explanation a while ago, is that it was done through the graphics card, not done after the video was "shot".

We want those settings so our PRM can look gritty.

LOL, Im almost sure that the PR5 Promo video you guys are talking about looked just like your BF2 the way you see it now (but shot in battlerecorder of course/and or nohud0). The 'effect' that everyone is talking about is that dark/supercontrast/blackfaded sides/bluish hue) that everyone saw on the movie.

I don't think you can run BF2 like that. Most of the shots on the movie looked like the game was running on the highest details or at least close to. However, that haunting tint, better contrast, darkened sides were all post-processing effects done in programs like AfterEffects or any video editor that can support video corrections (curves, levels, hue/saturation) and support transfer modes (using multiply or color burn for the 'dark sides'). It'd be sweet though, the only game I've seen come close to this was 'Farcry' where it had a post-processing effect that made everything look blue and desaturated.

But, in real-time, there is some level of 'color correctin' you can apply. I do it, and I run an Nvidia 7800GS and NVControl Panel has an option to add an 'overlay' adjustment to my whole monitor. I do it because in comparison w/my smaller 20" monitor, my screen is greener (old 24" CRT) so I adjust the RGB settings until I come close to my 2nd screen. I can also adjust minor things like the total over all brightness and mess with the gamma so things are as crisp as possible. (I do heavy graphics).

I assure you it's not a cheat, at least I think. It's simply using your hardware to your advantage. ATI has the same thing as well, but I'm not exactly sure as to how to do it. It's something to do with a color adjustment overlay; in short, you can adjust the colors digitally, instead of manually using your monitor's less precise, and more manual set of color adjustment controls. :)

Also, if you adjust 'Gamma', you can only adjust it so far. If you put to much, there's too much black and you'll be screwed in the dark. If you make it too light, you'll have a hard time seeing things hidden by fog. This was a long *** post.

I'm running a ATI x800GTO w/ All Medium 4x AA.
I only have 1GB RAM, so once I get 2GB, I can easily run high. I can actually run High now, but it lags for like 2 minutes into the round, but after that it's perfectly playable. However Medium doesn't look that bad at all, and it's a good mix of graphical quality & high FPS.

That is most likely correct. However, I have 2GB but the damn thing still lags on Al-Basrah on high texture/lightmap resolution. Every other map is smooth though. Still, could be that I am using the 64-bit version of Windows 2003 R2, along with Apache, MySQL, Mailserver, DNS server, etc. Dammit - I need a dedicated server :|

Heres my gripe right now - I actually put effects and terrain on low, when I play levels with grass (USMC vs China level that reminds me of a viet-cong movie) otherwise I get owned. I.e, they see me but all I see is a sea of tall grass for miles around. So there is a price to pay for good graphics, besides a lower frame rate.

Does anyone know how to increase terrain detail/LOD bias so that all the damn popup/model reshaping stops? That is the one thing that annoys the shite out of me.

I understand what you mean. During the 1st few months of Battlefield 2, I was involved in clan play, so I had practically everything on low, so players couldn't hide in shadows & what not, but once I left clan play & started playing public servers again, I figured I might as well use my graphical power.

Now, I feel graphics are half fun, especially with BF2. I know games certainly aren't as fun when you play on almost all low settings.

I can assure that look was acheived by editing the footage afterwards, I don't know who told you otherwise??? Of course he edited the footage, he directs music videos (or something to that extent), he probably did it in adobe after effects or something.
