THE HOOK

Post by Sneak Attack »

i think all the insurgents should have the grappling hook. when ever i watch the news or anything with those guys in it i always see them creeping around places where they shouldnt be, such as roof tops or crashed helicopter blades or statues (beating all of them with there sandle).
i also think all snipers should get the grappling hook as it is like a snipers life goal in BF2 to get someplace high. and they could get down from a high up spot by throwing the hook on the ground and just falling on it while holding down E.
dont think it would be a hard fix, but would make the insurgent maps more realistic.

what do you guys think?

If you throw the grappling hook at a hovering helicopter, can you climb and hang from it? :? :

Interesting suggestion. maybe a forum search for Grappling Hook would turn up some interesting results.

no you cant, ive tried hooking the blackhawk and as soon as it starts flying away, the hook falls down. ive hung it up on trees though and it gives you good visibility on approaching enemy

FYI, to get down from buildings with a grappling hook, just stand about 5 feet from the edge, and throw it off. The beginning of it will land at your feet, approach the edge, press "E" or whatever you have binded for use, and press down and you will quickly slide down the rope.

I like it how it is, personally. I don't want to see every single insurgent on the rooftop, and it encourages teamwork. A sniper + insurgent class working together can wreak havoc, as the insurgent can help the sniper reach places the USMC can't on Al Basrah.

Otherwise, I think the ladders and whatnot are enough.

Teamwork it does, becuase those with Graps have to help thsoe with out to traverse buidling tops and similar.

From previous experience i have found co-operating with a non graple hook player but having 1 my self can be both extremely fun and rewarding - moving a fair number of insurgents to a place the US did not expect and attacking from a unprotected angle is always a blast.

If you have a hovering Little Bird, it is possible to get on top using a Grappling hook, but then if the pilot takes off ur screwed

Yeah, actualy i had this idea today while play Basrah. Also, maybe the Engineer of the conventional armies could have them too? This would make it a more playable class, yet not overpowered but allow more manouverability to the force.

agreed, this class is very underplayed unless it's an all armor squad, giving it another useful item would probably help.

And what happens 90% of the time when you do this is it lands at your feet and doesn't go off the edge
