Claymores are not heat sensing...

Post by Figisaacnewton »

Claymores do not 'sense' when people get close to them and explode. claymores can be detonated by a trip wire, or a trigger, but not by sensing movement or heat signature.

It is very annoying to be blown up by a claymore when you know there is no way it could possibly be detonated, as the guy controlling them is on the other side of the level.

Example: Sharqi pennisula: i am walking down the stairs in the tv station building because i think someone is down there. wheni get to the flat area or the stairs, i notice a claymore on the next lowest flat area of the stairs. i move half an inch to the left to see if i can see inside the doorway to see the badguy capping the flag. BAM claymore goes off, blows me away. Claymore detonates it self and kills me, up a flight of stairs, 20 or 25 feet away.

we really need tripwires...

i agree with that, also there needs to be a way for troops to disarm or set them off if they find them.

Well, engineers can do it right now.

Yea I would like to be able to put a couple rounds into it to set it off.

Both great ideas. I've always hated how I can't remove the C4 that I misplaced as a Special Ops. I put it there, I should be able to dearm it. And you really should be able to shoot at a claymore to blow it up.

So can engineers remove claymore and mines? How do they do that? Just using the screwdriver?

hmmm it would be cool if you had the choice to use the Detonator on the Claymores or a tripwire. Detonator being on a cable you'd have to be within a certain range to detonate it though...

claymore detonators (im pretty sure) can be remotely controlled.

By that do you mean radio controlled? I have not heard of it being done, but I suppose it could be possible. Claymores are issued with an electric firing device or "clacker" and firing wire for the command-detonated role. According to current US Army rules of engagement (in trying to keep with the spirit of the Ottawa Land Mine Treaty, though the US did not sign it), only soldiers in Korea are authorized to use the Claymore in the standalone, tripwire role. This may or may not be true in Iraq or Afghanistan; I do not know the particulars.

Since we are on the subject of claymores, C4, etc. One thing I'd love to see is a control board for these weapons, instead of having a one hit blows all, id love to see it where you can go out and place several C4's around a certain area, then when you went to detonate, you would pull out a detonator with several switches, say you wanted to detonate the 2 and 4th claymore u planted but not the 1st and 3rd one, you would hit a button(s) that would activate those 2 only, so when you hit detonate, only those two would go off.

another brilliant idea. it might be a little overkill though. maybe at least making it so that when you press it once the first c4 you planted blows, the seconds time the second c4 goes off, etc. but yeah, if they could implement your idea in an innovative way, i'd be all for it.

could the detonator have a alternate fire that goes between 1,2,3 and 4, and that switches what C4 packet youre going to detonate.

i dont believe IRL that that is true with setting of specifice c4 packs because i think they all operate on the same radio channel, im going to research the RC-90 detonator used in bf2

I know a easy way.. send a guy into the claymore and get the medic (who is standing by ) to come up and revive him.. Or is that kinda slack. But yeah we ned trip wires or a clacker...

BTW. I just read that the german army first used the claymore inWW2. Interesting.

Easy way:, when you throw down a claymore, there are a bunch of strings and trip wires that are part of the claymore model, but are like yards away from it in front of it. claymore blows if something touches its model.
