generic suggestions
Hello, I would like to make some SERIOUS suggestions regarding your MOD.
Although it is a cool mod and is as much realistic as possible, there are however a few let downs. These wouldn’t put me off playing of course but they could be greatly improved. These flaws/suggestions are:
No health bar
This can be annoying as you don’t know how much fight you have left in you and also because you don't know when you really need some medical assistance. However I really like the "bleed to death" scenario. Adding the Psycodelia is a really smart thing and I do think you should keep it. But please, a health bar would be greatly appreciated.
No crosshair
Although this can be someone annoying, I don't think this should be improved. You don't get a crosshair in real life and you don’t really "fire from the hip" any more. It will bring out the best in people and teach them how to play properly if they ever want to kill somebody in life. Hehe.
No Kill reports
There is nothing worse then spending a lot of your ammunition on a dead body. Or, stop firing thinking you killed him when in actual fact, your enemy has only decided that he fancies a quick lay down. I know you will try to argue the fact that if you mouse over the body a name will come up if the person is alive; clearly, this is not the case as you will see fro my next comment.
Late recognition.
Unlike battlefield where you mouse over someone and instantly can distinguish between friend and foe, it sadly isn't the case in this mod, during my "test" of the game, I and many others, team killed a lot because the name didn’t come up fast enough and we assumed they were afghans running around poppy fields trying to defend their heroin, ready to ship to the UK. This needs to be worked on I suppose.
Edit:These are just suggestions. I have no experiance in MODDING im just voicing an opinion.
Kit requesting
I think that this is a catch 22 plan. It cuts out the nub snipers for one, and restricts them to a said number, which can always be smiled about.
However, it's all too complicated. You should be able to select the stuff from the spawn window. If you want the mod to catch on more, it has to be simple so that anyone can use it.
Vehicles
I would love to see the BF2 Blackhawk replaced by a Royal Marine Sea King MK4.
I like the touch of using the Westland Army Lynx.
Weapons
SA80 Iron sights are a touch. Brilliant idea. Maybe they can make it more realistic and apply random jams?
Map errors
You have a Basra map but you no UK forces fighting on it? According to MOD, Basra is held by the British, not the Americans! A remake would be nice, also to include maybe the Royal Marines with beach landing etc?
Helmand Province was spot on. Nice map.
MOD FOCUS
Although this is modelled mainly around UK forces, sadly, it hasn’t seemed to catch on in multiplayer servers. Nobody plays British Forces which is somewhat frustrating. They all play Americans. THIS IS A BRITISH FORCES MOD. IF YOU WANT TO BE AMERICANS, DONT INSTALL THE MOD AND BE AMERICANS. Damn, I would like to see more British focus and less Americanism. I think that maybe some fans of PR can like make a poll or something?
British Command Voices
Is it just me or do they sound a bit WWII era with the "jolly roger old chap".
Usually now, we shout with conviction and desperation when we are reporting enemy positions under fire, or when stating your ammo count. The voices sound too calm and cheery.
BUT OVER ALL SO FAR ---
So far the MOD is a good idea and I would strongly support it. I understand that its very hard work but I only hope these suggestions enlighten you guys enough to maybe include some of them.
I would like to hear back what other fans have to say and whether if they support my views or detest them.
Thanks for your time and I hope this post raises a few pointers in the right direction.

Umm unfortunately your post is horribly incorrect.
1. Your first 4 suggestions are all unrealistic
2. There is no Lynx in at the moment. It is currently the American MH-6 Little Bird. Also dont expect the Sea King soon as the Brits have a Heavy Transport chopper in game, the HC3 Merlin
3. First off, last time I checked the MOD doesnt control Project Reality. Basrah is an american map for the time being and will almost certainly be changed to British when proper assets are put in.
4. This mod is not centered on the British. In fact, of all 5 factions right now, one could argue the British have the smallest role in PR at the moment, thought heavier vehicles will follow. The mod is based on 5 factions. the MEC, PLA, USMC, and Insurgents have just as large of a role, if not larger at the moment, than the USMC. While British maps are bugged right now because of the Land Rover, even when this is resolved you will see a majority of USMC maps because right nnow they are the predominant "allied" faction.
Please research these things first.
Sincerely,
Viper5

I didn't say that the MOD controlled PR. I am just saying that if you really want to make it "as realistic as possible" you could learn a few thing's off there. At the same time, im not pissing on everything you guys have done. Im just merly making suggestions. It's a good MOD and I can see it catching on.

Secondly, when I use the internet now, its for gaming, I don't have the spirit or intellectual power to sit down and research into programming etc.
Last time I checked, this was a SUGGESTION BOARD. I am making suggestions. Don't get hostile on me.

There isn't one. (Except for medics look at other people's health, which gives you a general idea of how badly hit up they are)No health bar
There is no crosshair. Now I know that the bullets go where the crosshair 'would be', but I do not think it is possible to mod the BF2 engine so that there is 'free aim' as in games like Red Orchestra:41-45.No crosshair
It's called Project Realism for a reasonNo Kill reports
Now I do agree with this... I'm a nice person who will pause and identify targets if observing from a distance or the enemy is concealed / shadowed (Causing the uniforms to look similar in most cases), and that often gets me dead. Maybe not instant, but faster, please.Late recognition.

If you could select the things from the spawn window then you could spawn on the squad leader or RP with an AT or AA etc. kit, this would be very annoying for tanks, planes, etc. having people just pop up with the kits they dread out of nowhere, unlike now (Or at least in the server patch 0.50Kit requesting

Whoa whoa whoa whoa. Whoa. Now I'm British, but I definitely do not think that this is a British forces mod. I do sort of agree with you that there are not enough Brit maps on rotation on most servers. (I know that on some maps they are buggy and can crash the server, I remember one server which would crash if anyone gets in the land rover)MOD FOCUS

all those things in the start of your list are NOT going back in. medic bar? crosshairs? kill lists? the lack of these things are what brings the life into this mod. You know when you kill someone, if you know how to aim.
and there is no problem of this mod catching on. tons of servers, and truly, we (the community) don't want the vanilla noobs to infiltrate it, unless they adapt to the new game play. That's the whole point!

Yes, but many of the suggestions are simply opinions about the mod that are incorrect, such as it is first and foremost a Brit Mod. Additionally, PR is based in the year 2012. So realism as to places is not all that relevant.838393 wrote:I didn't say that the MOD controlled PR. Ok, maybe I was a bit too hopeful, but I did make a few valid points. IE: Late recognition. I'm a shoot first ask later guy. And you do get a crappy feeling once you realise you justed killed 3 guys from your own team in one hit. They generally don't seem to like it. I understand that my name wouldnt pop over my head in real life. But maybe do something about the dress? they are abit similar from long range
But thanks for the feedback though

But to be fair you would not instantly distinguish between friend and foe in real life, and this mod is trying to make it as realistic as possible.838393 wrote: Late recognition.

Stay hidden long enough to identify them!
At close rnage, you can tell by the differen of unifroms, at long range, identify your targets first! If they can't hit you, they are not a threat at the moment. If they start firing, I usually fire back even if I havent identified them.

I real life you have to identify enemies (and friendlies) by thier uniform. Just so in PR. Its easy once you get used to it, but it can be frustrating as you start out.838393 wrote:Ok, maybe I was a bit too hopeful, but I did make a few valid points. IE: Late recognition. The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Honestly, which part of the title "Project Reality" did you miss? You don't have crosshairs or little bars telling you how much ammo or health you got in real life. Your lucky enough that the Devs decided to have tags for teammates.

Since when in reality do you have a stats info on top of the page informing if you've killed someone or not? The whole point of this Mod is to have players act responsible and make sure their target is an enemy before they fire. I'm sorry to be an ***, but I advise you to go back to playing the regular Battlefield 2, cause you've just pissed on every important aspect of this Mod (unless you’re only interested in new weapons and not what the game play has to offer).Originally Posted by 838393

Frankly, im not too sure if you want to play this Mod lol.
You have basicly undermind all the radical changes that defines PR and does create a more realistic experience. Fair enough, everyone has their own opinion but i can see only two suggestions here.
1) Add the Merines chopper
2)Change everything else back to BF2 lol.
It would also help us and yourself and saved everyone time if you(and others reading) would take the time to use he SEARCH function of this site. just type in the key words of what you are thinking about and see if it has already been suggested. For example, SA80 jammins have been suggested a fair few times and plans for the addition of the british forces to Albasrah have already been unofficaly stated in the Albasrah feedback Thread(http://realitymod.com/forum/showthread. ... +feedback).
Im not having a go at you for posting up this thread, there is alwasy a repeat thread floating about here, dont feel like you have to defend if you feel attacked
.
Just take a little time out and search before you post. You know? Like Look before you cross.

1. My point is that yes, you may have tags on teammates, but they are too slow at coming up which is why there are so many team kills.Cheeseman wrote:Your lucky enough that the Devs decided to have tags for teammates.
(unless you’re only interested in new weapons and not what the game play has to offer).
2. You're right, you are an ***. I'm not pissing on the mod, just giving an opinion. Last time I checked there was no law against giving an opinion. That's why us westerners have the freedom of speech act.
3. I am interested in the new weapons and stuff, but that’s not all. I do like the reality conception of this MOD but I do think it can have a little better improvements.
IE: Random weapon jam's featured on M16 and L58A1/2's as in REALITY they are flawed by jam's. I would also like to see a BALANCED game where British Forces are on par with American forces, not just maybe one or two Brit maps and 50+ American maps etc. (Percentage was exaggerated)
Anyways, isn’t this a comments and suggestions board? Do you usually act this hostile to comments and suggestions?
4. Along as I pay for the game, electric and internet, ill do what the hell I want to.
lol{GD}StevenGarcia wrote:I think I've identified your problem.
But ok, fair enough, you want it to be more realistic? Here goes,
1. Remove the map from the HUD, you don't get that in real life. Keep the map as you would press "M" (default) but make it so that you can run and look at it.
2. Restrict kit to something like:
One Medic per squad,
One Support per squad,
One Engineer per squad, etc.
3. Make the command voices less cheery old chaps. Its war, not a kick about in the park or a jolly fancy tea party.
4. Lose the team tags. Also team mate positions on the map, you don't need these, thats why UAV's and Scan's were brought into the game. (I know, Scan's aren't in the MOD). If you had these in reality, the war would be over before it began.
Other then that the mod is perfect so far

1. Experienced players rarely team kill. Identify your target before you pull the trigger unless you are absolutley sure that the area you are covering is completly free of enemies. Also, use your minimap.838393 wrote:1. My point is that yes, you may have tags on teammates, but they are too slow at coming up which is why there are so many team kills.

2. Fair enough, but your suggestions were largly based on making the gameplay rather more 'nilla like.
3. Such as? All the things you suggested as changes were rather unrealistic (and by rather, I mean very)
Please note: British forces are armed with the L85A2. Thats the one that has had all the rubbish British small arms engineering removed and replaced with much better German small arms engineering. It now works and is a very reliable rifle according to all the reports I've seen. Also, as the armies in PR are modern, professional forces (execpt insurgents, but they have AK-47s, which dont break) that would keep thier weapons clean and maintained. And well maintained, clean weapons dont jam. Not even M16s. Apparently they've been fixed too.
4. fair enough. Just remember that what you do has the potential to enhance or take away from how everyone else experiences the mod.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

I think he does have a good point about the health bar. Yes in Real life you don't get a little bar telling you when you will die. But you can figure out how injured you really are by looking at the wound.
I reckon the HP bar should be replaced by a Green, Yellow, Red Circle. Green being healthy and Red being Almost dead.
