A fan's suggestions

Post by zizler »

One I love this mod, especially since .5, great work and deep respect to you devs and everybody that has made this mod possible.

I didn't check if it has been suggested before since I read this forum daily and I was pretty sure this wasn't suggested before.

Suggestion 1:
On certain maps the M95 is hidden. Since the M95 is anti-material rifle it should do just that. Is it possible to make the M95 capable of demobilizing Humvee's etc. when a direct shot or 2 in the engine block. Maybe also a attack chopper.

Suggestion 2:
Attack choppers have 2 engines for 2 reasons, one it gives more power and if a engine is damaged is unlikely the other is too, that way they can still safely get the hell out of there and get back to a base to get repairs. Since you can disable tanks with well aimed shots, could you reduce the performance of choppers when you hit it on an engine for example. Is it also possible to give a warning text on the HUD which says something like "Engine fire" or something when that occurs.

I don't know if it's possible with the game engine.

there is similar damage effects like you describe to the choppers but no HUD message...it just flies like **** when hit.
i have yet to find a m95 other than on grweasy mulletttman so i can't vouch for vehicle damage but it sure makes enemy infantry fly :)

localized damage on a Hummer not really possible .. a single hit from an M95 pretty muh anywhere would disable it, which we don't want. There *could* be a way to make this work that I can think of, but it would require fairly extensive remodelling of all the vehicles and wouldn't be worth it.

wrt helicopters, we're just starting to get the damage system sorted.. so we'll be adding more to that over time.

oowww Ziz, no more flying back to the ship to repair for you then.. Now i'll need a pilot kit also to be able to bail oout safely... :p

To bad that the localized damage doesnt work... I hope EA will give out some better stuff to be able to do modding... But i guess thats just a dream..

Well, how about also beign able to knock a helo out of the air by damaging its tail rotor with an RPG? Instead of HUD msg, the Helo would vibrate voilently before going into an uncontrollable spin and work up a smoke cloud.. (See movie: Black Hawk Down for further details).

First, don't gage reality on Hollywood movies. They're pretty off on most things ;)

Secondly, there is already something like this in the game. If you are flying a helicopter, and you are damaged enough (For instance, one RPG) you being to shake, rattle, and become unstable in the air. This is called "Light Damage" and if you incur "Heavy Damage" which could be enough small arms fire and an RPG, then your engine shuts down and you plummet to the ground, shaking, unstable, and smoking.
Wasn't me.

my friend, may you be diverted to the Guide.. see that little link under the brit soldier in the banner, click that, all your answers will be answered.

And as duckhunt i think said "everytime i hear someone refer to BHD as a reference for this game, i laugh". I laugh now too.

on the BHD subject, It wasnt just skill that the RPG managed to hit the black hawk in the rotor... the somalies were shooting RPGs every second as the black hawks were flying around. The skies were filled with rpgs flying up since they were so innaccurate, the somalies were relying on luck more than skill to shoot it down. My father was there on the peace keeping side of things, so he was one of the first to hear the story.

I'm not sure if it was a glitch or by design, but a few nights ago flying a Cobra on Basrah I got whacked by 2 RPGs (and managed to dodge 2 others, Cudo's to the anti-heli squad that was trying to get me). I lost control of my tail rotor! ACK as Bill the Cat would say. I managed to fly back to the airbase and actually got the bird down to repair it, but it was the best flying I've ever done.

Luckily for us, most of the middle east use the spray and pray method of aiming.
