I Need A Gun...
Okay, just wondering how PR is going to go about this, as everyone knows by now, BF2 uses the ranking system to allow you to gain more weapons, an as far as i know, PR will not be using the BF2 ranking/reward system... So my question is that will every weapon be up for grabs by anyone who just happens to wander in, or will PR incorporate thier own type of ranking/reward system, so you have to earn new gear, etc. Because, personally, I dont want to see every sniper out there using M82 .50 cal, I want to see weapons like these earned, so that people who see guys with these weapons know that they are experienced and that they didnt just start playing PR, because wouldnt it be kinda dumb to have every sniper using only the most high powered rifle in the game because they can, it would be horrible... So I say, fight hard to get new/better equipment. Just my opinion.

Its not that PR doesnt want to use the ranking/award system, it cant be done in the BFHQ ingame menu.
I believe players should have to earn new weapons, but its pretty unlikely it can be done, as far as I know. The most reasonable answer for the use of weapons that are more powerful then their counterparts is spawnable weapons kits.
But my best guess for this is just having different weapon layouts for each map, so if you have one class that has a really powerful weapon, at least it wont be in every single map. The classes should be dynamic and ever changing. Have no fear though, this is one badass mod team complete with insanely intellegent advisors, so I sure nothing will be over/underpowered.

yeah in real life nearly all snipers would be running round with a m82(at least us ones, or if they used an m21)

Retreating?! Hell no, we're just attacking the other direction!

What would be cool is a realistic ranking system. By this i mean you join the navy - raf - army at the start of each round (depending on whats available) and depending on how well you do in each section of stats depends if you can move on in that force.
Example for the british would be starting as a Marine and earning the equivelent of 3 years good service then being able to apply for SAS etc etc.
Unlocking weapons is unrealistic - unlocking opportunitys withing forces is realistic (which obv wil provide you with different weapons etc also :wink
The only problem with this is that if maps aremade for specific areas of forces (eg the map is made for special forces) then it would not work.
