Aiming with Iron Sights

Post by Clark33 »

I'm having a lot of trouble aiming with the ak-47 and M16 iron sights. I see an enemy, either crouch or go prone, put the sights right on him and fire. He then lays down and shoots me in the head with 1 shot. Its getting frustrating so any tips would help. Thanks

Welcome to the forums :)

Only walk covered. If you go straight into a hostile area you're much more likely to get shot...
And well. some times lag or luck may influence. Some days I just can't shoot anything cause I'm not in a good mood or whatever, and I know how frustrating it can be :P

Mostly... keep calm whenever you see an enemy, there are X possibilities, but you can either shoot him faster anywhere you can just to make it more difficult for him to hit you, or focus a bit more and shoot for his head...

Also, if you're real close to the enemy, maybe you shouldn't waste time putting your sights on (especialy if you're in coverless area)

always remeber that you can run and prepare an ambush, you dont have to stay and fight, also try to keep covered maybe your not in a squad who would do much to cover you.

also threaten the dude or scare him by putting a few rounds in his direction, generally people start to get panicky if your firing off a load of bullets(must. keep.death/kill.score.higher)

Clark, you're new to the forums, so can I assume you are also new to the Mod? If so, be patient. I warn all my new PRM recruits that you will get a severe pwning for the first week or so as you adjust to the different game play. This is especially true if you mainly played BF2 prior to coming here (America's Army players tend to do better).

Hope to see you in-game. If you do, you're always welcome to squad up with me, get on VOIP and I'll help you learn the ropes.

Actually, i had the same problem when i started playing pr. Just aim a little lower than you think, the very tip of the iron sight is where the bullet goes. you should see your target above your iron sights when you shoot him, but there should also be some of your target below the tip.

i just aim sorta low and let rip with the bullets on single shot, it sometimes works.. i think ive gotten a lot crapper recently as i cant really win in firefights as much as i used to. i blame either the beer or my shitty old ball mouse.. it could also be my framerate i guess. (my new xfx8800gs 640mb should do the trick when i install it)

im not that good in firefights either, i prefer to fight dirty and wreak havoc behind enemy lines or keep on ambushing enemies and making sure they dont get to there objective or destination!!!.

im more of a hit n run guy, get a kill then run like hell and shoot the next guy, always keep on the move :P "well somtimes" i like blowing stuff up but i cant do that if nobody is covering my back!.

i used to do that alot on BF1942 goin to enemies HQ and mining and tnting there tanks and planes so when they came to use them "BOOM!" they either die or they have low health on there vehicles :P it was well fun hehe

My probably useless advice, aim for the body, biggest target and if you don't kill 'im, he'll at least bleed. If the guy goes prone, run for cover, toss a smoke and move to a better firing position. In theory it sounds alirght but I still manage to get creamed

Thanks for the advice, ive actually had this mod the day it came out. I bet some of you have played with me. I usually finish in the top 5 or 6 on my team. I think my main problem is with the M16, the sight is wider than the ak and L85A1 and i think i accidentally cover my targer with it and loose track of him. Anyways, i appreciate the tips, see ya on the field.

I used the put a lot of bullets their way as to startle them with the bulletcrack method at first. But if you fire to fast even on single shot, i at least don t hit to much.
So i think the best way to go is to keep your cool and forget the fact your being fired at, trie to. Just really shoot to kill over the tip of the ironsite, 1 or 2 bullets should do the trick.
Remember that your target will be equally excited to shoot his load as you are, and have most of the time the same difficulties as you.

I'm new to PR and having the same problem as well, very good reading here and will be using these tactics.
Also I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or need to download something but, when I'm in a apc its all guess work for shooting. If I'm not driving or in the main gun position, all other seats in the apc has no ironsights. I can't even hit the broadside of a barn

I find it difficult at long range with the M16 and AK's.

I've never come close to killing anyone with the machine gun posts, nor have I seen anyone else come close.

Supressing fire, I can'¡t get enough of it, and I've see no one do it.
They just stand there looking at the enemy.
I shoot even iff I don't hit them.
Why? Cause my rifle ain't a sniper rifle and it's not designed for 450 metre shots, where you can barely see the enemy.
