Give us an option with guns.

Post by Guerra »

I'd like to see atleast two options of main guns for every kit (not including special kits)

So for a medic, instead of that M16, perhaps something smaller like a submachine gun, instead of a shotgun, a submachine gun for engineer, and such. Or instead of M16 with under slug, M16 with a scope.

Just give us options with main guns. It wouldn't be unrealistic at all, since troops such as engineers and medics usually get lighter weapons than assault rifles.

Anyways, just an idea, let me know what you guys think.

(Ideally, I'd like to see players being able to pick not a class, but fully choose with weapons they use themselves with limited inventory space and the more stuff they have, the slower they move)

It's not hardcoded, BF2 had different weapons for every class !
Edit: oh, just read the inventory suggestion part... yeah, hardcoded

Well, with vanilla BF2, you had the unlockable kits, so I'm sure its quite possible to atleast have choice between main weapons.

nope EA stoped use of that so people couldn't exploit the unlock system.

Rush the gates and capture EA so we can change the hardcode.
I know it's not total realism but I would love to see certain things as unlocks and more weapons just because I like guns.
But they can't do many things because EA is blind to other revenue streams.

i'd only think it right for engineer to choose from SG to AR.
because frankly, its not very realistic.

There are no SMGs that I can think of in any regular infantry units in any major army. If you are not a designated marksman or a support gunner you have a standard issue assault rifle. The only thing I would like to see the unlocks system used for if it can be made work is to for all the riflemen (ie the 7 basic spawn options) to choose between optics or ironsights, underslung grenade launcher or the hand thrown option.

It would require *EVERY* server to run ABR, which really is probably not doable. Also it wouldnt be realistic. Modern day armies try to use the same weapon as much as possible (M4 for US Army, M16 for USMC, L85 for Brits, etc. etc.) to ease up on logistics.

Indeed. The only realistic use would be to give the US army (when they arrive) the option of M4 or M16A2, as I believe both are still in use, but the M4 is taking over.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

I agree, though there is really no need for 1 grenadier/rifleman kit as everyone would choose the grenadier.

Well if the rifleman had a scope, then it would be different.

Mostly I started this thread to add the option of submachine guns, because I honestly hate all the medic guns. All of them but USMC M16 and the insurgent doctor's AK.

I wish we could get choice between AK variant and the G3. While I like the G3, its actually a scoped rifle, like the FN FAL.

*Drool* I want to see the FN FAL in PR.

What about making alternate weapons a requestable option? I'm not specifically asking but just putting this idea out for those in favor to use.

would it be possible to get the options by requesting a kit. Like u can request changes to your kit when you have that kit. So you see what I am saying or is that too difficult.

Here in Israel the newb soldiers get M16s and the vets get M4's (depends on what unit, but its basically like that). I heard its the opposite in the USMC.

Tank/APC crews get a Galil or Glilon (shorter version) as they can take a beating much more than a gun with parts produced by Mattel (M4 and M16).

What I would like to see is that support can have the option to choose the M240/GPMG instead of the the SAW.
