Mao Valley is the first map I played on PR. I was absolutely shocked by the intensity and the well thought out map.

The chokepoints are perfect without overdoing it.

Mao Valley is without a doubt my favorite map, and I wouldn't mind if they got rid of the choppers.

Only thing I'd say is add some more fog. I like the close quarters jungle combat.

best map ever.
Except for the choppers as they are annoying and just make alot of unneeded sound so i cant hear anything which REALLY PISSES ME OFF. but its a great shotgun madness map

it would be sweet if the sky was cloudy and thundery like on ghost train. and in the same time of day (dusk) as greasy mullet, keep a few of the bird sounds but throw in the cricket sounds and stuff. for the low spots of the map such as black hizo wreck some fog could be implemented, as that would make it prime.

wow, just the thought of it makes me ecstatic. i can see it now...dusk with the sounds of an incoming storm, the wind rustling the grass-distant lighting lights up the sky fallowed by the crack and deep bass of thunder, birds are quieting and crickets are coming of age, a heavy fog has rolled into the valleys and swamps... Chinamen are hiding in the bushes, siting and waiting. Americans are heard approaching, and then at the exact moment...

MAKE IT LIKE THAT^^^^^^^^^^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a great map.

It's always a pity that the grass is invisible from
a distance... but that is hard-coded... I believe...
or think...

Yeah... great map... needs leeches, snakes, spiders and mosquitoes
to complete the jungle warfare experience...

This is just one of those maps where you'll either love it or hate it. If you're in a good squad, you should enjoy the map. I remember a match where my squad would set up ambushes, where we would climb up some ridge, and wait for enemy infantry to walk through the jungle below. And suddenly, we would be chucking grenades down below.

I did prefer the AAS groupings back in .4, because the intensity of the firefights were so great, most of time you spent the map crawling and crouching.

I would definately like to see the map enlarged a bit in the future, so players aren't forced down one or two canyons. I'd decorate the ridgetops with trees, bunkers and those footbridges so players can walk across the ridges. Some of the statics EoD use (The watchtowers in particular) would be great on this map too.

Chairman ROFL Mao Valley...

Now, Mao Valley is an excellent map, except for one problem; grass disappears over distance; so no matter how sneaky you're trying to be, you're a moving target in an open field for someone a small way away...

Same applies for the hay on Operation Phoenix.

This is a fun map. And I do like the choppers. It keeps people out of the hills and clearings, which is important. And it makes that green smoke useful for a change.

I would like to see repair pads though.

I don't think this is much of a problem unless you're on the mountains. If you're in the jungle, you won't be able to see someone from so far away anyway because of all the bamboo and whatnot in the way.

And if you are on the mountain sniping down, enjoy yourself as much as you can, the LB's going to find you soon enough.
