Because the those two would just be flying targets for RPGs etc. The UH-1 is fits the typical "normal" sized transport helo the the Hip and Black Hawk.

Yeah, you've got my support 100%. Hueys are useful at almost any mission. :-P

No, it wasn't. It's never left US service, and the Marines will be using it until they find something they like better than the UH-1Y. :)
Cheeseman wrote:Will it shouldn't be too hard to model the Huey, since Battlefield 2 already provides a model of the AH-1 Cobra which is basically a attack helicopter based on the AH-1 Huey. In reality it shares the same rear tail, engine, transmission, and rotor system as the Huey (not to mention a similar name).
So you guys can simply access BF2's AH-1Z Super Cobras model and take the measurements of the rear end and engine design of the Cobra and use it to design the UH-1 Huey.
That's AH-1Z side-by-side with the UH-1Y you've got there. The hover infrared suppression systems and the wingtip sidewinders give it away. :)

Also, the AH-1Z model in BF2 is actually a hybrid of characteristics from the AH-1W and AH-1Z; it would be incorrect to model the UH-1s based on it. But don't worry, there are other ways. :)

Your right, I didn't see the 4 rotor system. It looked like 2 rotors at first. Any ways, it doesn't matter if its a AH-1Z or AH-1W, the UH-1 series and the AH-1s share the same rear design and depending on the model the same engine and rotor. I think its a good idea to take some of the Dimensions from the BF2 AH-1Z Super Cobra and use it to model the UH-1Y. This way they'll be the same scale in game and by looking you could then be able to tell that they're similar in design.

Which ones a Cobra and which ones a Huey?

Bottom one is AH-1.

The swashplate is "thicker."

Not sure if it's possible, and it is only a suggestion. But wouldn't it be cool for a co-pilot or someone to be able to close the doors on the huey? Like in the merlin. If it's possible, I bet it could also be done on the Blackhawk.

Then they forget to open the doors to let people out... Besides, I don't think the doors are heavy enough to actually offer any protection.
