I hate not being able to play 24/7.

And the noobs can get annoying, but that's secondary to the time issue.

Michael, I think you should teach them. It is your civic duty to play as commander as much as possible and teach the noobs how to SL properly. I like the idea of tactics videos though. And I think I'm going to start making "defense" squads more often.

That is the biggest thing. Don't just join a server and ***** about none of the squads doing anything. Be a squad leader. Or if your so inclined to do so, become commander. Many thanks to Riki for taking over last night lol.

DON'T BOTHER WITH READING THIS

Post by SevenOfDiamonds »

We need to get REAL on this game. I mean i just read in another post about how things are not real and stuff so I think things need to be done so its so real people will be taking dumps in their pants because if they get up to do it they will become a human pinata.

1) When you die YOU GET KICKED from the server and can't play all day ... actually EVER. Your done ... no more.
2) When a tank shoots and your by it a fist needs to come out of your monitor and knock you in the chest and throw sand on you.
3) WHen you get shot you a dwarf needs to come out of your closet and come piss all over you. (Blood and piss are warm)
4) Also during your getting shot ... you have to eat a can of beans so that you can knock yourself out with your own gas.
5) One thing to make the game alot more real is to fill your room full of
sh!t and ttrash so you can barly stand sitting in there while you play. When you kill someone go get the dead dog thats laying in road by your house and stick it next to you so the stench of death is chillin with you.

I think that this little implimentations would really bring out the reality of war into the game for those who want realism...

I particulary liked No 2, and enhace this by, when you go over water, a cup of water gets thrown over you from your monitor lol

It will take a while for all the smacks to get bored of not playing PR properly, after that time, I think it will be good again.

Instant proning. I don't know if it's hardcoded or what not but it is for sure my #1 gripe with this mod right now.

So the solution now is to:
1. Not promote PR.
2. Not release 0.6....ever.

I agree that it is obvious for me and apparently also for you. Although it wasn’t that obvious for me at first point when I began playing this modification.

Guidance, yes I agree there too.

But, guidance how?

- To let the skilled players do it under a round as you propose?

- Or like Fuzz head is doing, directly training on specific servers?

- Launching a specific training map as some has suggested before?

- Focus the development of the game content towards dependency on specific team functions like the squad leader and commander function?

- Increasing the content of the Public Relation material to focus even more on teamwork?

- Upgrading the website in such a way that it too also will bring the users mind to the concept of teamwork?

I don’t know my self, yet.

I just find the question interesting, both as a player and as a person who find it fascinating to experience the development process of an Internet based multiplayer modification product like Project Reality.

Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover.
However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

My biggest issue with .5 is dying when driving high speeds :P
Most drivers never notice someone screaming and yelling when somones wants out :(

I can tell you right now the average player has no interest in "being trained" on some formal basic training server. Your best bet is to show them by example how it is done by being a good squad leader or commander. Once someone sees how much fun PR can be by playing as a team they are sure to keep up that level of play. That is just one way of doing it, and probably the most common.

The type of people you get going to a seminar or training server are already those using teamwork and basic tactics during the course of the game. Preaching to the choir if you will.

Problem is that defending is boring, and so is waiting 25 seconds getting prepared for an attack.

Personally I don't mind wiating 5 minutes at a flag wiating for the enemy. But it's just annoying when you team is all f*cking about, not doing shit other than dieing.

i'm all for what el vikingo is saying. mostly when i'm on public servers it seems like 2/3 of all the SL:s have ADD becuse they cant secure the flag that they'v capped, instead they boldly head on to the next flag and leave their brand new capped flag undefended. this results in a whole lot of flag hopping or one squad who have the brains to defend at all times.

A good commander can control that...... something you rarely find. Hell I'll take a bad commander. At least with that I can tell him what to do while I'm leading my squad lol

For me .. now that we have a patch out that fixes some of the major performance issues .. the biggest problems are map design issues. Some (most) of the maps are still way too Vanilla and this doesn't match up to the changes in the spawning system.

Having CPs really close together or too many CPs for the size of the map really contributes to chaos and breaking down squad cohesion... things become way too much of a frag fest when you hardly have any time to manoeuvre or regroup.

There are also some map balancing issues, but those are pretty easy to resolve.

The biggest problem with .5 is the smacktard's best friend, a.k.a. the mini-map.

The biggest problem with .5 is that everyone forgot they're supposed to play the game to have fun. Now they do nothing but complain incessantly over in-game chat and VOIP, and then some more on the forums.

Remember when we logged in to have a good time? Funny how with .5 the game has gotten exponentially better, yet the whining has only increased b/c of it.
