Tactics?
i'd like to start a tactics thread where people post real life tactics for in game use. so that SL:s and players interested in learning more (like me) can turn to this thread for information. i realize the wiki has some information but i see that as the general basics.
I my self am interested in seeing links to:
infantry tactics
mechanized infantry
tanks
so please post links, pictures and other threads. thanx

ok a tip on taking out air craft on al bas rah , requies a good mature squad leader, ok start a squad called anti air, the squad leader must be police man or ammo guy , recruit two people in your squad and lock it, ask your two members to pick up the SA 7's , then find a nice location where you can easily hide , there s a great place between industy and facility somewhere on the desert , a broken house / shack... now just get your two guys to constantly harrass and take out all air targets , while teh squad leader constantly re supplies these guys...
this is a great tactic and whennever I do it, the usmc air has no chance of doing what they want to do !! as they constantly get locked on by the sa 7..
teh reason why you want to lock your squad is so having fewre people will make u less conspicious as having too many men will result in them running around shoooting and giving your position away..
also very important to only lock on air targets when they dont have a visual on your position, becaus other wise they can see teh smoke trails and probably work out where u are and take u all out..
I was doing this yesturday with two guys and my other team mates had a much easier time as they never had to worry about those da m a 10s and cobras... my men had like 25 kills each at the end of the round with only about 4 deaths..
and i have seen you on teh dev file sercver space cadet so may be you can join my specialist squad and see what I mean...
you can also use teh same tactic on armor as well, so for exaple this time you have a full squad of rpgs guys with leader being ammo , and teh reason why u need a mature leader is because for teh leader its quite broing as all u do is play a support role, but ist quite fun at eth same time coz you knwo u are really helping teh team out...

A common formation in warfare, or maybe just for hunting, is called "Deadly L"(free translation from german). It means to lineup your men to form a "L". Hence, you have pressure to enemies front and side.
A possible squad lineup could be 4 soldiers front and two on the side with SL in the corner, although I don't see it realised or any advantage on most of the maps. I think, six men are not enough for this tactic, your "L" could become a ":" within seconds.

The old switch-a-roo. Can't remember the real name.DirtyHarry88 wrote:Simple things can be effective.
Say you have a squad of 6 and are having to fall back, have 3 guys falling back and 3 guys giving suppressive fire then swap. This way the enemy is always under fire.

If you are reading this dont stop, cause if you do, I'll kick you in the balls.

Screw formations and get your men in to 2 fireteams, named ALpha and Bravo.
THe squad leader is in Bravo (and leads it) and you elect or ask a player to lead Alpah.
1 - Make sure you have 1 medic in each fireteam
2 - When issuing orders, either dont mention any fireteams = all squad follow, or simply mention both e.g ALpha move here.....and Bravo move to me (Rember you lead Bravo and therefore use your self as a marker).
3 - When attacking a flag, trying to get 1 fire team to move to a safe place and WAIT and the other to move round to a different possition on a opposite side. During this, no one fires and moves steathly.
THEN once both fireteams in possition, you attack together.
SIMPLE AND REALLY NOTHING ELSE TO REMEMBER!

A lot of people tend to have a full squad of inf, then have their armor or air in another squad split up. This would be good if there was a commander for the SL to call in support from, but 99% of the time, this isn't the case.
During one game on Greasy Mullet, I had a full 6 man squad which was workin together, We had one guy assigned to air(as in he just flew around in the A10). I would give general orders with the normal move, attack, defend, etc commands, and also over VOIP. However, I would have the destroy location saved for where I need close air support(and boy was it close). This effectively turned my squad into a massive killing machine, especially when we got a jeep. This is a lot easier than typing for air support over team chat and possibly not getting it, or even getting coordinate problems, etc. It's like throwing a signal grenade without actually throwing it. For instance, one situation we were pinned at outpost with a tank across the bridge providing support fire to infantry attacking all around. We were doing decent holding off the infantry, but it all had to be CQC, otherwise the tank would dominate us. So I simply dropped the hammer on the tank(hehe), and in comes an A-10, and bam, tank neutralized. Then we could actually take advantage of our defensive positions and just pick off the attackers.
Whenever possible, I would try to have combined arms in one squad, unless you somehow have TS/Vent in which both squad leaders are in for between squad comms, and then utilize VOIP for within squad communicaiton.
You can do the same with armor, but since an A-10 only takes one pilot, you can still have 5 guys on the ground. Though a tank backed with 4 infantrymen is pretty awesome too.

its still a computer game, i'm sure real life tactics can help but still its a different world.
Not tactics but a few points that i've gained from my PR experience, particulary from the tournament where squad and team tactics are on a much higher level than a pub.
-if your on the attack, keep moving. In campaign 2 of the tourney it was remarkable how easily our teams attack squads would be stopped. maybe they thought they were regrouping or something but what they were really doing was letting themselves be flanked by some willy defenders who saw what was happening and took the iniative. If you stop any defenders will have a chance to work out whats going on and then if you ever do get moving again you'll be in a world of hurt.
-When operating in front of your own lines as an advance guard, make sure those behind you know whats going on. Firendly fire is more deadly than enemy fire.
-good defence > good attack
-An SL's job is to keep your RP up and in an appropraite place. If the rp isn't up and running then the SL shouldn't be doing anything other than getting it up, that includes having fun of any kind.
-If a man goes down whos obviously been sniped, dont revive him unless you've either got smoke cover or you know you've neutralised the threat. Constantly reviving a victim of a sniper only builds up the snipers kill count.
