IED Concept Model

Hi, I am new to these forums, and I was playing yesturday, and I saw that the IED was still c4, and I thought that there should be an actual IED model, so I came up with the idea and rendered this.

The cell phone detonator isn't that good, and the artillery shell, which most IED's in iraq are made from, isnt that good of a quality either, if you are willing to take this to the next step, I will give a higher end version, and i will also create a 3d model for it, and someone else can make the skin.

I have the psd of the file if anyone is interested in looking at it, just pm me with your email, and I will send it to you.

For kit assignment, maybe just one should be given to an engineer class on insurgents, and they use it wisely. It would be remote detonation too..

i think they already modelled one. it just isnt added in yet

That would be great.
One issue, size.
It would look a lil goofy if that model was the size of the current C4 model and it would change the tactics of laying IED's if that was real sized shell in the game.
I would like to see 2 different sized IED's, the above model being one of them.
IED's are the great armor equalizer but there are video's of M1's getting blasted and rolling on through it.
So there should be a HMMV sized IED ( x2 for an APC / x4 for a tank ) and a tank sized IED like the shell above.
The shell would be much more difficult to hide, balancing it's greater power.

PLease don't do anymore work! We already have one done. :) although if you can create models go check out some of the other threads, and see if you can make something. :)

Do you need many more models done? I am learning how to skin, I can help with that too..

I agree with you ADA about 2 different sizes though, A larger more powerful one, but bulkier and harder to hide.

I wish I did, I would be so proud of myself.

Right now I am fine with lower poly models, sometimes stuff like people, vehicles, with more polygons get me kind of confused, I spend most of my time in Photoshop, and I am learning C4D.

If you guys do need any help, pm me or email me, I would be glad to help, I can make some art for the front page if you need it, I can also work on an animation for the IED detonator, if you want to go with a cell phone...

As for the IED, there is a fully modeled and skinned version. Look around, I cant remember where I saw it, but its definently there.

just a thought for IED's

is it possible to make 2 firing modes for it, one being just throwing it down, another being taping/sticking it to something with a longer deployment.

What we have right now isn't actually c4 but a semtex pipebomb if you wish.

Your model is ok but requires more detail and a texture... cheers..

it was a small version, I can work on a larger scale one, but i guess i wont if you guys already have one setup.
