Because in Real Life you wouldn't go around lighting up friendlies all of the time like people do in game, because of the kind of friendly dispersal pattern's (or whatever you want to call it) you would have in real life. And because resolution in real life is infinite. Situational awareness in real life is so much better.

The only way to adequately simulate that real life level of detail and awareness is to simulate it through easier to identify player skins in game.

Usually you can use the color to identify your enemies. I've got no problem with it at all. We have the minimap, and we have the Q button, which more than make up for the loss in situational awareness, if you ask me. Tapping Q takes a split second. And a rule of thumb: if they fire at you, fire back!

So in conclusion, in the poll:

61% of people think that the player skins are hard to tell apart.

40% of people think that the skins should be changed to make them easier to tell apart.

60% of people think that the skins are fine how they are now.


In a mirror poll on the PRL forums (which gives more of a clan-only perspective than the PR forums which includes all types of gamers):

77% of people think that the player skins are hard to tell apart.

56% of people think that the skins should be changed to make them easier to tell apart.

45% of people think that the skins are fine how they are now.

What he is saying is:

60% of 100% thinks that the skins are hard to tell apart.

Dividing the categories and putting labels on them, we can conclude that 40 % of 100% wants to change the uniform. Even though the uniforms are hard to tell apart, 60% wants to keep them the way it is.

I guess that means that out of those 60% that feel its difficult to tell them apart, only 20% wants to keep them the way it is.

Then its the rest of the category = It aint difficult/we don't care - leave it. is a total of 40%.

Conclusion: 60% wants to keep the uniform as is.
(20% of the category "hard to tell apart, but keep it" and the "change anything and I'll start a witchhunt on you" 40%. 20+40=60)


(by the way, I can "translate" those numbers to any viewpoint of your pleasing. Just PM me and I'll rip those statistics apart and make a new interpretation.)

I like the suspense of actually having to restrain myself and double-check my targets before opening fire. :) It's not really that hard in most situations, and when it is, that's fun too. :p

basically it means the majority in the poll want them to stay the same...

i have to agree... at 50 meters, russian flora pattern and canadian cadpat pattern look VERY simular.

same goes with tons of other patterns... so i say keep it, or make a new pattern based off of reality, and not just for the sake of changing it...

What are you talking about?

Getting TK'ed while going back to your lines is not your fault. There are a thousand perfectly legitimate reasons why that guy was coming back to friendly lines.

The other night I was on a norwegian "Bigwar" with the map Hamgyong Hill. As chineese my squad was ordered to defend Central. I caused 7 TK's. Usually in matches or Bigwars that count is down to 0. Here is how that happened.

1) My own squadmate had left Central Defence and ran straight E towards the british and wanted to go rambo on them with a supportgun. The second he came into my line of fire (it is far enough away to not distinguish uniforms) I killed him.

How could this be avoided? 1) He could have reported in that he was leaving Central Defence and attacking 2) He could just have stayed on his ORDERED post from the commander.

2) Someone thinking himself to be VERY VERY clever indeed decided that he would go N of SouthFlank and run up and down the same route as the reported british infantry was traveling. Thats the second soldier who leaves his post.

These soldiers did so repeatedly. I killed them repeatedly.

Lesson to be learned in my book? Do not leave your post untill you have permission or TOLD somebody where you are going.

Mind you, this was an organized battle. Public matches plays out much differently. My right eye is basically glued to the minimap. :D But I thought I could give you an example.

I'm really glad this thread exists as I'm glad it's not just me.

I was just playing a China vs US jungle map (not sure what it's called but it was pretty dense.) Both armies have uniform that is so similar, too similar.

I don't expect there to be one in red and one in blue, and I am very familar with games where you do have to think about who you're shooting at (eg. Red Orchestra). As it stands it's not making certain maps enjoyable at all.

I think it could definitely be argued both ways: annoying tks vs. realism. however, in real life people don't all look the same so one should be able to tell them apart. or at least make tags appear at longer distnaces...
