Accuracy International AS50

Post by 838393 »

Hello, yes, its me. The annoying one.

How about the new Accuracy International AS50 to replace the M95
and L96A1?

Also, I was really unaware that British Marksmen use the M14 :) )

Could I possible suggest without the usualy critisism and remarks about my poor spelling:

Sniper: AI AS50
Marksman: AI L96

For British Forces maps?
You may now slate me and stuff.

Am I bovvered tho? :P

allrighty

"Also, I was really unaware that British Marksmen use the M14"

they don't.

"Sniper: AI AS50
Marksman: AI L96"

I wouldn't mind seeing the AS50 as the sniper rifle. But L96 as a dmr? No no and... no. What would be the difference between marksman and sniper then? The marksman needs a semi-automatic rifle with a scope so that he can provide his squad with accurate and fast long range fire. He is not a sniper.

The Brit DMR is the L86A2 LSW.

The AS50 (as far as I'm aware) is only used by the US Navy SEALs, and as their snipers are not represented in the mod the weapon should not be used.

And the British already have the L115A1 LRR .338 Lapua sniper rifle which is more powerful than any of the other standard issue ones, and dont need thier snipers power upped even more with a .50.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

If it is already in progress model/texture wise, then it'll prolly go in. But I dont see the need to make another .50 Sniper. Also IIRC Marksman should have a semi auto for rapid accurate fire

Maybe the insurgents could have a AT rifle from WW2 with a scope!?

Been suggested before. Most likely will never happen. Please do a search. The UK uses both the M82 (confirmed for infantry units) and the AW50F (confirmed for EOD units only to my knowledge). The AS50 was being evaluated by Naval Special Warfare but I have read no confirmation of its adoption; for bolt action .50s they and Navy EOD are known to use the Mk-15 (McMillan Tac-50).
