Nevermind, you are correct. I forgot what the real problem with it was, but there was something.
No more late night posting for me.

Yeah, perhaps in a future game mod the US or Brits have to stop the insurgents detonating a huge bomb. If the timer gets to 0 and they haven't stopped it then there is a huge nuclear type explosion killing everything on the map. (probably a bit extreme, but you get the idea)Biggaayal wrote:A bomb as determined showed would be a spectacular way to end a round.

What I think Project Reality needs is player controlled artillery, such as mortars, M109s or M-270 MLRS. This way, you need to use teamwork to mark targets, give up-to-date information on enemy locations and use spotters to see if the target was hit. You know, promoting team-work.
Now that is a class idea, especially the mortars. Maybe a mortarman kit with a light mortar. limited ammo etc. You could have fire support squads with mortars, support and snipers/marksmen...good times.

There is that type of scenario. Also something along the lines of if you hold so many flags you have access to using a certain weapon one time. Not a nuke, but just a larger bomb. Maybe just the opposite. Like if you are down to your last flag, you gain the ability to call in a large airstrike as a last ditch effort. I would not want to see these put into the regular AAS maps though..:iGi:. Greg wrote:Yeah, perhaps in a future game mod the US or Brits have to stop the insurgents detonating a huge bomb. How would it be stupid to only use it once? In the small scale and timeframe that battles take place on a PR server it would make sense that such a weapon is not used over and over. In RL large munitions are not used constantly at the sight of any threat. Because of the level of damage they produce it would not make sense to use them unless absolutely needed. That and our ideas of "big bombs" may differ. I'm not talking nuke a whole city big.'[-doseph- wrote:']I think people would rather have player controlled artillery, which is more realistic, then your "Only use once a round big bomb".
It's a stupid idea not needed for Project Reality. I have yet to see in the 6 pages this has reached one good reason that Project Reality needs a bigger bomb.

in a hypothetical multi-objective-mode a big bomb would make sense - detonating or defusing.
if the bomb explodes one side has accomplished the last of its objectives... all are dead - new round
you could combine it e.g. in a "king of the hill" map with many other aas-objectives before this one finishes the map.
it would be a nice eyecandy for a finisher

Nukes will never see the light of day in PR hopefully. Otherwise the moment someone used it you wouldn't be able to spawn because the radiation would turn your skin inside out.
What would be cool are larger and more detailed explosion effects (The VBF2 effects are just awful). And of course, different sorts of munitions too. I'd love to see some sort of chemical weapons for the MEC. Napalm would be lovely especially for jungle maps (BFV flashbacks). Laser/Precision guided munitions would be a treat too. Commander smoke barrage would be great, man I could go on. Not a big fan of player controlled artillery. At best I would love to see mortars, but I prefer using the commander to call in artillery barrages.
