more weapons! i know there is already a large variety but i want flamethrowers. also as someone else mentioned player controlled artillery would be cool such as morters. phosphorus grenades would also be good.

Welcome to the forums, mate!
Flamethrowers: Not used much IRL, I think. And probably not possible thanks to the BF2 engine (standard answer, that).
Mortars: They will be added in a future release.
Phosphorous grenades: We already have smoke grenades, and that's basically what WP is used for, right? Wouldn't mind seeing WP smoke, though. That would be unique.

The USA can still use flamethrowers but we dont, cus when the Geneva Convention banned the use of napalm and other flamable substances of that like as a weapon the USA was the only contry that didnt sign. Burn, baby, burn!
But seriously, the USA doesnt use flamethrowers anymore. Why burn a building when you can blow it up?

Hehe. Remember that the 1942 engine and the BF2 engine are quite different. You could wing-surf on airplanes in 1942. Try doing that in BF2.DivS-konti wrote:I won't say this! Flamethrowers are even possible with the BF1942 engine... and ppl said that won't be possible too in the past.
Don't be so blunt. Of course they don't use napalm anymore. They use incendiary devices.Soulja wrote:The USA can still use flamethrowers but we dont, cus when the Geneva Convention banned the use of napalm and other flamable substances of that like as a weapon the USA was the only contry that didnt sign. I know, but I had no idea what he wanted to use the WP for, so I took a guess. They could be like a cross between the molotovs and smoke grenades. But I imagined they were mostly used for smoke, not for frying peopleDetermined wrote:OMG lol Run throught a cloud of WP and you won't come out of the other end my friend. WP and flamethrowers have been banned for years.

Let me rephrase that: They were used for creating smoke blankets, not for intentionally frying people, because they create a helluva lot of smoke when burning. The frying thing is just a "bonus".Noff wrote:Once you see some of that stuff in action, you won't think that anymore. Phosphorus usually has to be stored in water because it starts to burn as soon as it encounters oxygen.

Phosphorus burns when ingnited. It burns bright white, therefore you are not addvised to look straight into it, although I have in the lab.
( !!!!, Damn I just knocked over my drink, I didn't even see it.)

When ignited? It burns when it contacts oxygen. If it gets on you the only way to stop it from burning is to smother it, robbing it of oxygen. They always suggest wet mud or damp layers of cloth in the field.El_Vikingo wrote:You serious?

Yeah, and it's ignited by contact with oxygen, and technically slightly warm temperatures IIRC... like 10 degrees F above room temperature or so, but it's not like you're going to pull out a chunk of white phosphorus because you've still got 5 degrees to go before you know it'll burst into flames.El_Vikingo wrote:You serious?

KP: technically you could use anything that burns to create a smoke screen. White phosphorus is a dangerous incendiary that has been used in massive quantities to burn people and structures since WW2. If WP gets dropped on your position you'll be too busy being on fire to worry about what's coming through the smoke, so I guess it is a pretty effective smoke screen as well.

Well, of course you could, but WP is very effective as a "smoke-maker". Have a look: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... ons/wp.htmNoff wrote:KP: technically you could use anything that burns to create a smoke screen. That's a good site for military information. Note that
Heh. That's the US for ya.White phosphorus is not banned by any treaty to which the United States is a signatory.
