Poor SL.

Post by AudioAtomica »

It feels like no matter what I ALWAYS end up in the squad with a poor SL. The one squad on the whole team that doesn't even bother to get the officer kit to lay rallies, but get's the snipe kit and hides the whole round. Arg. I hope this IS just me and this isn't a frequent occurance.

If he's a good sniper, that means he's usually in a safe spot, with a visual on the enemy.

So it's not a bad place to spawn.

Otherwise, tough luck.

'[R-PUB wrote:Garabaldi']I must be lucky. I always get competent SL's.

Check out the PR Player Recommendation thread.
Ahh thanks for the compliment since lately you have been in my squad :-D

I always ensure the squad i am in has a highly competantSL OR 1 that is willing to learn from every other squad member!

Well to be honest, all SLs, however competant should still be willing to learn.

Any any way, those who feel confident enough to be SL, the there never really be a problem with finding a good squad because you can just make one.!

yeah. but its often like that: 8 players, 6 in one crappy squad not caring about sticking together or some strange thing like that, and 2 players trying to do a good squad but noone changes from the 6 player squad to them despite numerous invites, chat msgs and stuff so no rally points, no fresh kits in enemy territory, waaah. it should be obligatory to attend fuzzheads SL training to become SL.

hey devs, could you code that? :D

What servers are you playing on. I raely find players and SL totaly un-willing to try to use rallypoints and stick together on the iGi/thorus/tactical gamer server.

In the past finding a good squad, was difficult for me but now i know what servers have the highest chance of having those good squads, i only go on them, before i would just pick any server that had a space on it, ANY!

If you're having a trouble with Squadleaders and see Spec Ops squad on the list and I'm leading, join up, I refuse to stay in the rear of the fight after I set up a rally point and am usually on point or right behind the point man. I use tactics and it's an autocratic leadership in my squad so just be ready to follow orders.

I find the best way is to have a microphone and talk to the SL, Often they are just new to the game and by talking to them over VOIP (even if they don't respond) you can teach them alot. But ofcourse if the SL is a complete retard, you can always do what I do, create your own squad! As long as you have a mic you definetely will do better than your previous SL.
If I don't find some of my regular squadmates online I usually SL myself and I like to think that I dont suck ;) hopefully you will start to do the same thing!

"The men inside (the APC) might have been UN but they were playing by a completely different set of rules. They were Swedes; in terms of individual intelligence, integrity and single-mindedness I was to find them among the most impressive soldiers I had ever encountered. In Vares their moment had come."

I have been having a bit of bad luck as well, running in a lot of squads where the SL will leave, then rejoin, bumping someone up, but then they leave, and rejoin, and so on. Then I get bumped up and stick with it cause I figure they must suck and I have to be better than them at least. (I do pretty good, and communicate a lot and expect the same from my troops.)
Don't like to SL though. I like running medic and keeping my SL and mates alive. Guess I need to get with Fuzz as well. :|

Last night I had to explain everything to a poor leader through VOIp, he didn't even have a mic.

So if they are poor SLs, Help them!

Oi, thanks for the responses. Yeah it must be the servers I go to, I just got to any that has a decent ping and isn't currently running Mao Valley (I hate that map.) I live on the WEst Coast of the U.S. can anyone reccomend a good server(s)?

btw if you all could take the time to addme to x:fire that would be pretty cool.

If the SL sucks, get a different squad. It gets easier once you start recognizing people. What I hate is when you're the only decent squad. On Al Basrah today I led a spec ops (the mission type, not all the same kit) squad to destroy every insurgent ammo dump. It went beautifully, until we realized we had finished but the stupid blues hadn't even managed to cap villiage, and our tickets had almost bled out. Everyone was bitching at us like it was our fault. But we had the most points, even though we had avoided combat the whole time. Everyone else just camped airport I guess.

You can always type your basic advice in the global chat so the SL gets embarrassed.

That's happened to me, I was in a squad on...I don't remember the map, but it's insurgents V.S. USMC and there's the north and south VCP spawn points. Anyways My squad leader's goal was to blow up all the insurgent spawn cars, and I usually join a server as anti-tank just incase and joined his squad and we pretty much went all around blowing up their spawns, but we ended up trying to help cap facility. Because the rest of our team were too incompetent. So far I can only recognize one person and that's [MOFO]Saviour. He's pretty good I think I've seen him in 3-4 rounds. The only reason I remember him is because the first round I ever played no one on my team was spec-ops and I couldn't figure out why, seeing how we kept coming across empty enemy vehicles and their rallys so I went spec and got the highest on my team but he beat my score as spec-ops, so he was listed as doing the best as spec-ops and not me. So now I recognize him everywhere. :)

Yeah, [MoFo]Savior's one of the first guys I started recognizing. And BirdShotOriginal. And 00SoldierOfFortune00. And the DVB crew. Then one day I joined fuzzhead and Atlanta on Jabal. I got in an APC and they're like "Wasteland, are you good with the APC?" This was back in like August or September. I think to myself, "what the hell do these guys mean, 'good with the APC'? I don't crash it off cliffs or anything.... so yeah, I guess I'm good".

Boy did I get schooled.
