USMC name change patition!
Sign here if you wan't the USMC name changed to the United States! Here are some reasons it would help the PR mod team and open up the US team to way more content:
1. By being called just the US or United States we can add in vehicles like the Striker, AH-64, AH-47, and M2A4 Bradly. We could add in weapons like the SR-25, SCAR-11L, SCAR-11H, and even the famous M97 sniper rifle.
2. It would fit better with the other names in the PR line up. I mean why EA chose to be so spacific with the name of the US force has always made me a little sad. I mean whats up with the USMC always on the front lines in BF2? Don't they think it would of made more sence to call them the US team and then be able to have what ever vehicles and weapons they wan'ted for them in the game? I mean they call the PLA just that the PLA, and the MEC and Russians are just called MEC and Russians. Even the EU is a realy vage name compaired to the USMC.
3. Not only would it free the devs up for way more content to be added for the US team but also free them up for the other armies as well. I mean the British are going to get everything they use in real life some day in the mod. Why is it the US team has to be fragmented?

1) The game is set in the "near future" so its possible that the USMC might pick up this equipment anyway. Besides, who would want a Stryker, its just a light weight LAV-25 w/o the 25mm gun. We don't need no stinking H-47
s we got H-46's and the H-53's the biggest daddy of them all (Come on Dev's we need a Super Stallion in this game, you could base it on the Merlin and give it tons of hit points). The Corps has the SR-25 (put it in service before the Army did, we just call it the Mk11). OK, the Corps could use an H-64 varient, but like I said it the near future, the Navy's already using them, and once the V-22 gets canceled (for real this time) the Corps might have no choice but to goto the BH. Bradly is just a non-amphibious, slower version (thanks to the tracks) of the LAV with a TOW on it.
2)The USMC, the British Army (and one would suppose the MEC forces) are all roughtly the same size. The flyer here is the PLA. Perhaps they should be made into a specific unit?
3)Good point, I really don't think the Dev's have enough to do (for free) yet. LOL
Seriously, the Marines are the rapid reaction force of the US military. As the old joke goes, what sound does the first piece of **** make as it hits the fan? Marrrrinnneeee..
Most of the scenerios in the game are rapid reaction incidents, things the Corps is designed for. I would argue that we should narrow the focus rather than expand it. Give us the elite forces from around the world. We could have the Royal Marines or SAS. The Chinese could become the People's Infantry Garrison Brigade, Air Assault, Unit 53300 (The Hong Kong garrison, considered to be the most elite unit of the PLA). MEC could be the Al Martyr's Brigade. Then we could expand into other nations, like Russia's Spetsnaz, the French could get... anyone know of a French unit that's never retreated...the Canadiens SSF, and so on.
