GAZ-39371 "Vodnik"

Post by Lev_Astov »

I would like to request so modification to one of my favorite vehicles, the GAZ 39371 Vodnik. It is a lot of fun to use one in the game, but it would be a lot more fun if it had some of the characteristics it has in real life.

First of all, the real 3937 Vodnik actually does float. It is reported to have a whopping speed of 4km/hr in the water, making it far from the ideal means of transit over water, but still a viable option. I actually have not confirmed that this hasn't been done in PRMM already, but I didn't see any mention of it in the forums or in the change logs.

Next, most of the modules that fit onto the Vodnik chassis are designed to be competely bullet proof. This does not mean they should be impervious to all weapon fire. The Vodnik and all those within it's confines should be made impervious to anything short of 12.7mm ammo. That way, infantry with an M95 can shoot through and kill the driver, but no one else but armor can.

The Vodnik has many modules that can be fitted to it other than what is currently seen in BF2. I would love to see some in PRMM that have the standard 3937 outfit with a capacity for 12 soldiers but no mounted gun. We could also have some with the enclosed MG turret or even the mortar launcher. There are many combinations available for hours of distructive fun!

Check out these links to see some cool stuff about the real Vodnik:

lol i too thought it was an armored volkswagen  turns out its pretty tough and considering the PKM kills on with 80 bullets from its 100 bullet mag in BF2, It definantly needs updating along with the hummers and the jeeps. Jeeps take 45 bullets to kill with the PKM

Every protection against small arms/light infantry/heavy infantry are "optional"

The reason why the vodnik in BF2 doesnt float is because its has an open back.

Yes i do hate how Bullets can make jeeps explode. It should just disable,

Actually, Ackon, the open back is not the reason it doesn't float, that back is closeable as far as I can tell and it is the base chassis that is what floats, and that will float with no modules attached. That at least goes for the 3937. The one in BF2 is actually the 39371, which may differ, in which case, you might be right, Ackon.

Here are some pictures and a direct link to the video about the Vodnik.

wow it is a cool video. like how it can float unlike the hummer with is atulay made to sink imedeatly soo it keeps traction. in the video did it have a small canon on top insted of an mg (looked like a 20-30mm canon) that would be cool to have difrent tryps in a map.

i wonder about the chin's version whait it is like (i think it is un fair that the back is open when it can have armor to protect the people in it
