Hack or hole in armor?

I may have experienced my first hack job this weekend. I was gunning in a PLA tank, scanning the front lines (I don't recall which map, was against Brits in a wooded/field map). Suddenly I got a red "hit" indicator and I was dead. My driver was fine, as was the tank. What happened? Is there a hole in the armor that a random round found? Is there a hack that allows you to kill occupants of a tank? Is there a random death bug in the game? Just wondering. It only happened once that game (we came right back to the same spot with the same tank).

You die if your in the tank for too long without the right kit.

If you had the kit, then I don't know, maybe a grenade down the hatch?

Maybe you were bleeding before you entered the tank.

its happend to me too, i was in a PLA tank with crew kit, no bleed, i think there was a slam placed on the tank by a Spec ops (killed him by roling over). I hear the slam go off, and next thing you know i died in the tank. My crewmate was still there driving.

its definitely a bug ive had it happen, i THINK it has to do with HEAT rounds but im not quite sure. will be doing more tests, if anyone has any concrete info plz post

i was a gunner , and i move the tank over a claymore , and the claymore kill me , but the tank was fine

I have also died while inside a tank, which did not get damaged. And this was before .509 and no, I wasn't bleeding. Also, once I think I saw someones foot sticking out from inside the tank, is this possible?

Yeah ive experienced this too, with kit and prerequisites, no damage

And i randomly die and my tank is fine

uhm, how can a foot stick out? I thought the players were like 500 feet below the ground?

The character model is placed inside the tank.

A gunner is inside the humvee, but he can still be shot.

Yep, I've had that happen. I was in a tank, fighting another tank, and when it shot me, I went flying like 100 feet in the air.

Is this even possible in the mod? If so that would be cool as a reward for being able to sneak up on a tank... then again, who would leave the hatch open?!

Someone RPG'd me and my whole squad out of a flying helicopter once. The heli didn't get damaged at all. Does that count?

I've dropped explosives into hatches, they sink in but don't do any more damage than normal attacks to the top of the turret. It's likely a clipping problem where there is a hole in the model somewhere and the damage gets through to the gunner.

I have been sniped outa the driver seat in tanks before in normal BF2. I tryed to tell the taurnament people I was playing with but they all dissmised the idea and said it's not possable. I would like to know how this hack works so PR can pout a stop to it once and for all.

MMmmm no never happened to me BUT i got killed on a cobra once, we were taking a lot of AK47 fire, the pilot survived, i thought the glass was bullet proof.
