BFV

Post by ratlover232 »

I know the suggestion has been made before, but I believe that the Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV) should be used in a ground support role instead of the AA role it has been cast into. It would not require any model editing, which is the only reason I renewed this idea. Just change the projectile fired to a TOW, and it would be realisticly accurate. If more work were to be done on this, which is what other topics have suggested, the proper TOW launcher (along with a new BFV *thanks a bunch EA*) would be modeled. I just would like to see a Bradley on the ground slugging 25mm death into the insurgents. What say you?

I apologize if some feel that this has been discussed before, but I have read over those topics, and most seemed limited by the BVF model factor. Thanks.

Im very much against giving the bradley a tow. It would cause the same issues that pre .5 APCs caused, being that they were used more as tank hunters than inf supporters, and the only thing that should be engaging tanks IMO are other tanks and heavy at soldiers... everyone else should be running, scared shitless

Ok, so perhaps not a TOW, but a light, Anti-Infantry rocket.

*EDIT* Combat Video of Bradley in action in Iraq. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bf1FKM_kGKU

Between 1:23 and 1:35

What privents them from being used against infantry right now? I use them mainly against infantry adn the occational plane/chopper.

If you wan't the bradly/APCs with TOWs to be realsitic you have to make it so they only have 1-2 shots for the TOWs. Thats the way it is in real life. It's not like in BF2 where you can have 5-6 TOWs on the LAV-25. In fact the only way to reload a TOW on an APC is to get out of it and load the launcher by hand. It's the main thing US army Troops hate about their M2A6 Bradlys. They have to stop what they are doing get the loader out of the vehicle and reload the thing by hand. Witch BTW takes 3 men to do in real life. So if the devs would make it so you only get 1-2 shots like you do in real life you would be in a pinch quick if you ran into 4 tanks on the battlefield.

I thought this thread was going to be a long overdue rant by ratlover232 about how he felt he was ripped off by EA after buying a copy of Battlefield Vietnam........whew....it's not.

What I find funny about that Bradley video is how they're raving about killing the tank- the guy says they'd BEEN HIT.

Hit by an MBT = wasted.
The IED Master 8-)
