I copy this from another thread that has gone down the screen since i don't wanna warm it up and here is where it belongs:
i understand the problem with the chatter. but you could make a channel for each squad.
concerning my prob with voip: its in fact quite weird. when i connect to a server with voip enabled (its all completely perfect w/out voip) in 95% of the attempts the map will load, i klick join game and almost promptly i get the "Theres a problem with your connection" and then i'll find myself back in the menu with the "connection to the server has been lost" msg. when i try to reconnect i will get the "failed to connect. check ur network connections and try again" msg each time i try for about 4 to 5 minutes.
point is: i don't loose packets. ping <server-ip> /l 4096 /t no packets lost, ping with normal size neither, no heavy ping spikes (up to 80ms with normal packets, 110ms with big packets; those spikes are VERY rare, 2 times in 20 minutes something like that and not connected to the disconnects), i can tracert the server, everything seems fine. only battlefield refuses to connect . as i said, i don't have any problems with voip off.
my rig:
a8n-sli with athlon64 3200+
geforce 7800GT Gainward
1GB OCZ Gamers Edition Enhanced Latency 2-2-2-5
Samsung SATA Drives
Router is a SMC WBTx40G. WLAN adapter also from SMC.
I use onboard sound. network connection is wlan, though i also have the issue when i got my pc wired. normal network card is disabled in bios. audio settings are on software, low quality.
I did a shitload of research on this matter, changed everything from MTU to networking DLLs and back, reinstalled windows, experimented with different drivers in regard to sound/network, different firmware versions for the router, EVERYTHING WAAAAH. i figure it's some weird problem with my shitty provider (Ono) but wtf could it be?
edit: seems to be less pronounced on servers that are only half full.

same with hard wire im afraid. everything runs fine. speed depends on the time of day, but measurement yields around 4Mbit/512Kbit down/up. this should suffice i think. i even tried to hook my pc directly to the modem, also via USB (crappy shit). no effect. but i'll be moving back to berlin soon so i get a new provider with niiiiiiiice speed hehe.
