fellow pr players, please read
This message is regarding the actions of a former hoc member, hoc|trivit.
"To my fellow players:
Today I was made aware of some shocking news. One of the PR devs sent me a message with a screenshot incriminating one of my (former) fellow hoc members as a cheater. Since receiving this message, I have truly been shaken. Not only because of the nature of the offense that my ex-teammate has committed, but also because of my inability to see his selfishness and lack of sportsmanship. His disregard for my clan, something that I care very much about, is as much angering as it is confusing, as frustrating as it is insulting, and as depressing as it is degrading.
This statement is not just a testament of my regret of not catching the behavior, but it is also a testament of the ethics and strength of hoc: never, under any circumstance, will we ever accept a cheater as a member of hoc. To be a cheater is to be weak. It is to be unable to accept your own shortcomings as a gamer and, instead of developing and growing to a better player, resort to degrading yourself – giving up your dignity so that you may earn false respect and false glory. Since hearing this news less than 24 hours ago, we have banned the player from all hoc servers as well as the hoc website. We regret doing this, hoc has always been more about friendship than gameplay. For that reason, it makes this player’s actions that much more senseless and unwarranted. I can only express extreme disappointment in this player. Because of his actions, we have no choice but to give him no less than a permanent ban. Although it is saddening, we at hoc know it must be done. To betray the ethics and morals that hoc stands for is proof that the friendship and camaraderie that we have shown to this player has not been returned to us.
I have previously said that hoc has never housed a hacker. I stand by that. You may think that this occurrence negates or contradicts that statement, but consider this: we will never, and have never, knowingly welcomed, supported, or defended a hacker, and we will do our best to keep them out of our community. So, let this be a warning, no matter how good of a friend, how nice of a person, or how great of a player someone is, if they hack, exploit, or cheat in any way, they are not welcome in hoc. They will suffer the same punishment as all cheaters.

I think I took the screenshot that you are refering to. I am glad to see that he is no longer welcome on the hoc website or any hoc servers. He has also been reported to http://www.punksbusted.com

note: from here on, everything i say is my opinion and i am not speaking for hoc, just myself.
thank you for your understanding and the opportunity to state this information publicly.
yes, thank you for reporting it. there is no room for cheating in our community. i ask all admins to check the rest of hoc's pb screens. i am confident that nothing will be turned up. he was able to fly under our radar because he kind of sucked. then last night he went 34 and 6 on sunset city, beating my score (which caught my attention. hes never done that before). after the game, an hoc leader, altec said something about keeping an eye on him. a few minutes later, suprise suprise theres a pm in my inbox from fuzz. so i dont think he got away with it for too long. i am confident we would have caught it soon enough.Desertfox wrote:I think I took the screenshot that you are refering to. trivit has never played in a match and is not on our twl team. quite frankly, the guy sucks. how "good" a person is at the game isnt important to hoc, its how friendly and how much integrity you have. obviously, this guy isnt much for keeping friends or having integrity, so the ban was a pretty easy choice. i regret its a choice we ever had to make, but we knew we had to do what we had to do.'[R-DEV wrote:fuzzhead']thanks for taking action, its really sad to see cheating coming around to PR
i think youve made a good decision releasing a statement like this and it shows your a mature and responsible clan. hope this incident doesnt affect you all in upcoming tourneys.

This really was a slap in our faces. In all the years that the hoc| clan has been around we've never had someone disrespect us like Trivit has done by hacking.
We are very sorry that this has happened, but are glad someone did alert us to the problem. Thank you guys!!
BTW... Keep up the good work on the development of this mod. PR is really an outstanding mod.

Its a shame to see it, but I (and im sure the rest of the community) appreciate the post on it. Ive never played with the player in mention, and not much with the rest of hoc, but i have been noticing you guys around lately and ive never seen anything bad. Its good to know that you have good policies against cheating.

Trivit? I knew he was cheating, but I don't know for the life of me how to get punkbuster screenshots.
It was obvious when he stood up behind a rock, and started shooting off into the fog, like he knew something was there.
Poor guy made it so obvious too, 50 kills more than anyone on the server.
I'm sorry if my comments are inappropriate, but this is the first authentic hacker (that was caught) I've seen.

it was, the first time he was playing with us with hacks (i believe) was last night on sunset city. i was saying how good he was playing, altec knew something was up. next morning, sure enough. ugh.Desertfox wrote:Ah, the screenshot I had was Al Basrah so it wasnt mineI agree 100% with what fuzzhead said also.
he would never hack around people he couldnt beat. he hacked for all the new recruits, but never in front of any of the veterans. the first time he played with hacks with me and altec (last night), we were confused to say the least. hes a friggin coward. let this be a lesson to all clans: check pb guids. its too bad this happened right when our servers were down. sucks.

thank you all for the response, i think fire and altec pretty much summed up what every one at hoc| had to say so i wont beat it to death. i will say this though, whenever i think or hear about some jerk hacking i dont say "why does this ramrod do this type of thing its only a frigin game" no, instead i try to understand why they would.ya see it all stems from a crappy childhood, lol . we all know these type of people, hell we grew up around them. its the kid that challenged you to a foot race, then took of running then shouted "go". is it any less of a victory inside his stupid head when he beats you? the answer unfortunatly is no, it is not. hackers and cheaters are no talent a** holes. take me for example, i get owned every single day at this damn game, and i do mean every day...lol. i dont play to have a dominant score, i play cause its fun. shit, i wouldnt know where to even find a hack. thanks again to all your responses, hackers is what ruins every game, i just wish more clans could show them that they are not wanted~

lol dude, thats seriously what this guy did (edit, i misread and thought you said last place to second place. didnt realize it was second to last haha), and he thought we wouldnt notice. he started hacking around a week ago (according to pb SS's), and a week later hes banned. hes a real 007 of cheating, great job flying under the radar.'[R-DEV wrote:IronTaxi']im the getting owned king...i single handedly caused our convoy of 2 apcs and a repair humvee to get smoke today....
maybe i should cheat though...cause..damn...nobody would even notice... when you go from last to second last...hmm.....tempting....![]()
i dont know, i think he might have just wanted to get caught. how could he have not? he was bragging to us about getting 132 and 2 in a pistol server right after we found all this out. it was so hard not to tell him to shut the **** up (since im just a member, i had to wait for the leaders to find out until i said anything about this). i had to avoid his posts in the forums cause i knew i would get mad. especially since the first one i opened after i found out he was hacking was him requesting a higher rank LOL. i strained to avoid having an aneurysm cause i was so mad. after that i decided it would be a good idea to avoid all signs of trivit for the sake of my own health haha.

*sigh*
Maybe why some of us think we suck at the game is because there are tards like him owning us with some stupid little cheat like that. (don't say hack, they don't deserve the title...plus it demonizes "linux hackers"
)
Anyways, I'm sure people of the community will think nothing less of your clan after this. You did what had to be done and thus people will not hold this whole cheating incident against you.

A radar hack i was worried about that one, i assumed that any sort of editing to the bf2 game would be picked it up quickly by pb when entering a server.....this worries me now to the extent this may be happening.
Hopefully this will be a lesson to all pr server admins to take more screenshots of players.
Anyways good call hoc as a former clan leader({TDB} forgottenhope) i know first hand how frustrating dealing with this sort of thing can be but you handled it in the best possible manner.

cheating at a computer game, sad, and lol wtf etc (desperate for peer acceptance, chooses to cheat, blows up in face)
permanent ban sounds about right.
reminds me of derek smalls in spinal tap when he goes through the metal detector at the airport. (he has a cucumber wrapped in tin foil down his pants)

(derek of course played by harry shearer who later appeared as a voice artist in the simpsons)

Thanks for taking action on the matter and brining light on the situation. Stuff like this can if not being explained create rumours about entire clans.
Maybe the more teamwork focused project reality gets, the more difficulties the cheater will face?

Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover.
However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.
