Training in single play

Post by MADTKBOY »

Not sure if this is something already discussed and planned, and I've noted another similar thread regarding multiplay training maps, but realizing the steep learning curve in PR, I though it would probably be best if there was a single play map made where new players to PRMM could famillarize themselves with the new physics of the weapons systems and various machines of war.

For example, a map for single play where there are firing ranges with respawning target red barrels (the exploding ones from VBF2), along with a weapons request location (say a weapons store locker or armory somewhere at the firing range)where a player looking to train could request any kit from any army at any time. Also, a airport where every flying machine currently in PR would spawn, and players could take them out for practice flights and bombing runs on (again) respawning targets. Say a few trucks, t62s, ect should do.
Then, a open range which gives players the opportunity to test out every land veichle avalible, and also their respective weapon systems. The practice targets for the land and air viechles could be the same thing, since the map is intended for only one player. Oh, and allow the player to request all crewmen kits at any time (at appropriate locations of course), since this lets the player to quickly go through all the viechles in PR (and famillarize noobs with the crewman system)

Oh, and turn all the bots off, so you dont have npcs wreaking havoc while you attempt to train.

If this map ever gets made, make sure it is widely advertised and named "Training Map" or "Weapons Famillarization" or something, so all the noobs like me can have some rudimentary chopper flying knowledge before they go and kill whole squads online.

I've thought of this, and it would be sweet.

Only problem I can see is that it would be a waste of time for the people making this game, and you can basically do this already if your create a server, modify its settings so your can request a kit at any time.

But it be sweet as a finishing touch to the mod or something.

Not a bad idea -- maybe they can hook up an indipendent mapper?

Hmmmn...anyone out there with the skills willing to pitch in? (or better yet, teach me? =p ) Although...that'd have to wait till I'm done finals and all end of April >.<"...

Btw...how do you change the settings so you dont need more than one player to request kits?

I think Maistros is working on a training map. Wait out, I'll look around a little.

EDIT: Look at this thread: http://realitymod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16743

More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

great idea imo, i would like this training map. (when i first dl`d the mod i tried setting up a local server to try each of the maps but i couldnt get any of the kits to try out the vehicles and alternate weapons etc, so i had to learn online, which isnt ideal, or fair to others players in some ways)

i`ll try that console command and see if that works for the time being, cheers/ta.

Also if you want to lower the drop hieght of supplies (so you get it quicker)
Go to 'mods/pr/gamelogicinit.con' and find the line 'gameLogic.supplyDropHeight 375' and change it to 50 or some low number.

Or even better, have bots. But make them all spawn in one walled off area that they can't leave, with some buildings. That way you can take you attack LB and work them over for fun.
