We will be removing the HUD reticule/crosshairs entirely. The only way you will be able to accurately fire your weapon and engage a target is by bringing up your weapon's iron sights, or an optic sight.

Couldnt you leave a little dot there, like in AA. Nothing that shows your accuracy, just a little dot.

Hi Duck, we will definately not feature a crosshair/reticle to start off with (this is assuming that our iron sights will be fully functional by the first release). Hope this answers your question.

The HUD reticule in AA :O does determine where your shot will hit.

You almost never have to use your sights because of that reticule. Which is one of the things that I hate about AA :O .

Taking off crosshairs is just taking it too far. Thats why AA :O decided to leave it in.

Just make it so that theres a crosshair there and it doesnt expand when u shoot, or even react to ur recoil.

So it will be useless unless u r standing still or u get lucky. This will teach ppl to crouch or slow down before they fire their weapons.

Just make the crosshair "unanimated".

I disagree. IRL, a Soldier, marine, what have you, would not sport his rifle at his hip and have a small floating dot in the middle of his FOV which would determine where his shots would impact.

I'm currently pondering an alternative to HUD reticules.

Who doesn't know that?

My point is that taking out the crosshair is taking things too far. It's more reasonable to make the camera/screen shake when the player fires his weapon. Making ppl have to look through their scope or iron sights whenever they want to fire their weapon is gonna slow things down and make whoever is firing the weapon "easy meat". Cuz u know EA is gonna make it that when u look through ur scope or sights u will automatically enter "walk mode".

I don't think anyone wants to be easy meat whenever they fire their weapons.

And also keep in mind that not everyone who likes realism likes slow *** games. Leaving the most important FPS feature out of a game will kill it. The mod might look awesome, but if it gets frustrating ppl will move on to other things.

This is something you should try to understand, Vex: This is a realism mod. And as such, we will be makng all small arms as realistic as possible. This means that the only way you will be able to fire your weapon accurately and engage a target is by using your weapons' iron, or if available, optic sights.

I can't say too much due to OPSEC reasons. But leave this area to us, that's what we're here for. Everything will work itself out. That I can assure you.

I have a problem with your no crossairs thing.

SWAT and special ops teams rarely use their sights when clearing a room. They all shoot by feel just as I do when walking up to a target at the same time.

I know that this is a terrible comparison but how do hit anything while playing paintball it's all by feel.

Mabey you could make a seperate "sighting in" by looking down the barrel while you are running. It could bounce around alot, but at least you could kinda aim tactically.

For CQB scenarios, I have devised an alternative method of sighting which the team is currently discussing.

I just DLed/played Red Orchestra(WWII mod for UT04). It has NO crosshairs, just iron sights. And after actualy playing with it and not just contemplating, its not bad at all. You can run and gun, but if you do, chances are hell just crouch, aim, and pop a round into your chest. I take back what I said about the dot/crosshairs.

You have a good point. I mean you can draw a bead to the person and hit them, but it is better if you take aim.

I also take back my comments about the dot/crossairs

For one thing I like the no crosshairs idea, it would incourage people to shoot as soon as they see an enemy instead of stop and line up, plus it will stop people from going rambo running towards you spray at you with great accuracy defeating the purpose of sandbags because you wouldnt use them for cover, instead run and shoot. If you dont like realism then this mod isnt for you, you could always get a marker and put a dot on your screen if you really want a crosshair or maybe use a gun with laser sights.

Don't be a pushover, if you don't want crosshairs then don't include it, this is what makes your mod unique from the rest.
