The "Crewman" class weapon question
Out of curriosity why does the crewman receive a full fledged assault rifle? I would have thought they would take a carbine or SMG to save space in the vehicle.

lol, it's true.
I'ma thinking m4 for US, that little QBZ for Chinese and maybe an MP5k for MEC (to go with the whole Heckler and Koch thing).

Why the hell do you think MEC ( if they ever exist as a regular army ) would purchase european weapons when they may buy cheap ones from former USSR countryes or China ? MEC tank crewmans should be armed with AKS74U , this weapon is designed for crewman & pilots .. and it is cheap .Jedimushroom wrote:MP5k for MEC

...and goes really well with the rest of the 7.62 NATO weapons we have? Sorry, Soviet weapons are no-go. And the MEC can afford it.Longbow* wrote:Why the hell do you think MEC ( if they ever exist as a regular army ) would purchase european weapons when they may buy cheap ones from former USSR countryes or China ? I think PR is trying to dissasociate the MEC from the vBF2 image that "OMG IF THEY ARE A-RABS THEY MUST BE POOR LETS GIVE THEM CHEAP WEPONZ"
thats what the insurgents are for

Their main assault is made by H&K, so is the support gun and the special ops gun.Longbow* wrote:Why the hell do you think MEC ( if they ever exist as a regular army ) would purchase european weapons when they may buy cheap ones from former USSR countryes or China ? I think that MEC shouldn't be based only on Pakistani & Iranian armyes . AK-74 , comes in 5.45x39 or it's brother AK-101\5.56x45 - probably the weapons of choice for any Arab army which aren't supplyed by US\NATO . I hope MEC aren't , yep ? They are cheap , reliable , accurate ( yes , AK-74 is accurate itself and AK-101 is almost the same in accuracy as M16A2 because of better quality of .223 rounds ) . Probably they also may buy G36's , but they are way too expencive compared to AK's .KP wrote:...and goes really well with the rest of the 7.62 NATO weapons we have? Sorry, Soviet weapons are no-go. p/s MEC support should carry PKM GPMG

Supplied by NATO? Since when? Just because they're buying weapons originally made in Germany, they are not supplied by NATO. FYI several countries make the G3, just like the AKs. And being supplied by a country means that this country would ship weapons to them for free (or return favours/political support, etc.). Buying them is something else. Please distinguish between these terms.
Or maybe you just misinterpreted my use of the term "7.62 NATO weapons" and thought that I was talking about weapons supplied by the NATO? In that case I can inform you that 7.62 NATO is a calibre, namely the 7.62 x 51 round that the G3 takes.
AKs are accurate? So? The G3s are damn accurate as well.
AKs are cheap? So? The MEC can afford them. And the G36s if you want to argue that point as well. But they are made by a NATO country, which you don't seem to like...
PKM? Why? It doesn't go with the 7.62 NATO weapons.
And, to quote a Dev: the G3 is here to stay.

G3 really is too European a gun for MEC to be using. But its rather deadly and accurate, although I really hate the sound for it. The G3 sound is way too soft. The damn thing is firing 7.62 rounds for goodness sake.

It has a louder, clackier, sharper sound to it.
Also, MEC would never use an UZI since its an Israeli gun.
Also, keep in mind that the middle east has oil, so they can buy guns and such. They have quite a lot of spending power. Guns themselves are cheap, even high end European and North American guns. Stuff like attack choppers, jets, etc are much more expensive.
Personally, I'd like to see MEC with the FN FAL. Atleast one class with it. Its just too perfect a weapon.
But yeah, give tank crew some submachine guns or carbines. Something smaller and with less range.
