Vehicle lockouts

Post by Paladin-X »

I figured jeeps and buggies shouldn't be included in the poll question, since I'd imagine that anyone could drive them easily enough.

NOTE: We may or may not decide to go with the majority ruling, but we certainly want to hear your opinion on the matter.

UCB's should have lockouts, if there will be an UCB's, other than that, they should be locked. A soldier from the MEC wouldnt be able to operate an M1A2, just the same as a US soldier couldnt operate a T-90...well the may be trained to operate such when it comes down to it, but effectively?

Ya, lock all vehicles except for jeeps. That way you will still be able to make a speedy escape away from the enemy base as a spec op.

Then again a problem might arise if a base is captured and the vehicles at that base are already spawned as the opposite teams vehicles.

Yeah but tags might be a server setting only. Anyway locking out vehicles heavier than jeeps, buggy's etc is the way to go I think. I always hate having to check the minimap before shooting at an enemy tank because there might be a friendly unit in it. It also prevents stealing equipment from uncapables and thus unbalancing a map (at least if vehicles get some value in PR).

Just put some sort of explosives kits at the base to blow up armor. That is what they do IRL right, blowing up enemy vehicles.

It is possible to override the server settings from within the mod code.

Like said i agree with jeeps and buggys and yes APC's to be unlocked. Only the planes and helos i have a real problem with since no pilot carrys his 'spare' crash hat in his pocket does he?

Allthough i somwhat think IRL a soldier could, COULD take control of an abram but they most likely wouldent??? who knows.
For the games sake jeeps and buggys!! only.

consider the consequences though, like when you capture a flag you have a bunch of enemy vehicles taking up spawn points that your going to have to blow up before you can get your vehicles (or wait for them to die on their own from the idle time).

Having armored support to help capture and hold flags will be very important. There are also bombers that can provide assistance or helos against incoming armor attacks. There's also anti-tank emplacements. I know it's a bit of wishful thinking, but I'd like to try to get everyone to rely more on each other for support.

Ya, exactly. It makes teamwork more important. You nailed that one Paladin.
Im all for vehicle locking, (course, we've just changed it so every US marine can drive/pilot every US vehicle... comon pilot and tanker classes!)

lol i wouldnt care much about vehicles.. i prefer all infantry combat with light vehicles.

But if it comes down to it, yes lock out heavy vehicles.

Haha now that you mention the locked out vehicle, it would be cool to make the ranks unlock enemy vehicles. IE tank,APC, Jets, Attack Helo, Transport Helo :D

But I dont think that would be possible unless you guys implement the seperate ranking system that other group made.

Jets, Helo's, and all armor should be locked... unless... it's Spec Ops trying to gain access? If that can't work, lock it all.

Ignition systems on vehicles follow the same basic design, so it would make sense for them to be accessible to most.

It's possible to lock vehicles per class? I didn't know you can do that...

But, that would be realistic, sort of... as a 'spec ops' class in it self isn't realistic, you'd have a whole spec ops team, not just 3 guys as Force Recon and then the rest of the team just normal marines. Unless it was a Joint operation or something...
