Death Cam
Can it be disabled... if you're critically wounded either black out the screen or keep blurry vision up.
Way to much ghosting due to being 'dead'.
Moreover, when you have no idea where you were killed from, the camera swivles and says, "hey, he's hiding right there... tell your squad mates quick!"

Yes, I like this idea. Blurry screen whilst you are critically wounded and then black when dead.
Also, whilst you are critically wounded, it would be cool to have the sound muffled kind of like the scene where Tom Hanks/Cpt. Miller has just come ashore and is looking around at the carnage on the beach at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan.
Edit: as a minor aside, can it say "You will die in … seconds" whilst you are critically wounded, instead of saying "you will respawn in…seconds"?

So is obscuring the view of the player, once he is dead possible??????
This need only be for around for 20 - 25 seconds, but enough time to prevent or atleast hampers information about the location of enemies after death and with in the players death vacinity being communicated to fellow squad members.
It would also help, make death seem more serious and, in a significant way more real and "like" RL, when compared to the present system.
I personaly would like to see a total black screen = scare the shit out of new players and make old timers think, hmm...mabey death means something "more"!
A simple black, opaque box, like the full map box, could also achieve the deciered affect.

i agree with v3non about it making the game pure bordom, but i dont think the after death screen should point at anything.
what i usualyl do is press my "Next View" key and watch my team mates fight, and usually to c if my leader is being shot at b4 i spawn....
perhaps u can just make it so after u go from critically wounded it automatically view changes so it will lock to ur team mate, once there u are unable to change off it anyway, only switch players this will stop ur ghosting problem.

In this version of PR, i think there are many features taht might just be possible with in the constraits of the BF2 engine BUT due to the inablity to implament another hundered or so other features, these few features are INAPROPRIATE.
HOwever, players would almostly certainly respect death IF:
There was no light
There was no sound
Only........................Ctrl Alt Delete!
20 seconds would be enough, and i would ensure there was no longer any "well i saw 6 guys, 1 SL, 1 SAW, comign round form the SOuth of the main buidling, they are using the low wall for cover and moving eastwards, approx 50m from your possistion" said the DEAD MAN!!!!!!!!
Death is quite simply sensory deperation to the MAX, PR should do its best to simulate it, to what extent is marginaly debatable but at present no feature displays this attempt really but ..........not appropriate as first sentance said at mo or.........?

Maybe a picture of hell for 30+ seconds in your screen, and it would say "The devil will release your soul in ## seconds"
But that could offend people, not to mention the idiotism...lol
Well, keep the death cam same as the revive cam...so you could only tell your squad "hey, no clouds and a sunny weather"...

Not really, for the first half of my PR life I didn't know you could follow people when you're dead, and I wasn't bored at all.ubiquitous wrote:Yes, I like this idea. Blurry screen whilst you are critically wounded and then black when dead.

i just fear a black screen will make no1 play the game, and id find it extremely frustrating with bordom, the games in pr are usually long with lots of deaths.. unless the admins change the timmer to **** all, but having no mental stimulation for 30 seconds would just kill the game, not to mention waiting the bordom of being critically wounded ontop of it.
atleast force the camera to point at team mates or a possition at main base or somthing, better then being black and silent... could even disable voip while dead...

1) - A black screen and no sound is almost certainly not possible to implament.
3) - PR has not reached the level that enalbes players to use extremely easily fun but advanced/realistic tactics, for numerous unrealistic reasons.
4) - When these unrealistic reasons have been addressed, through the implamentation of reaslitic features (maps, gameplay ext.), the need for advanced tactics will be paramount.
5) - Using advanced/reaslistic tactics, one will be able to survive for much longer periods than presently possible in game (attempting to use advanced tactics or not at present).
6) - Death will become more of a rarity and therefore no stimulation for 20 seconds will not seem so boring and anoying when compared to the ammount of massive overdoes of stimulation before hand, the difference being crucialy much greater than it would be if such a black screen was implameneted at the moment.
7) - The combined black screen and increased rarety of death would result in an increased fear by all players of death and therefore the causes of it (bullets, tanks ext.).
THIS IS SO FOR MANY MANY FEATURES, PR is not as realistic at present as it will be, therefore certain features designed to increase realism are either difficult to stomach at present or are, will and cannot be implamented till other features have be implamented first.
So, never totaly dismiss an idea becuase often, its time has not come but will someday and you will regret your dismissiveness becuase of such!
HOWEVER:
2) - PR is in a constant state of developement, with one of the main objectives of it being, the making of fun but advanced/reaslitic tactics absolutely neccessary to survive and succeed.3) - PR has not reached the level that enalbes players to use extremely easily fun but advanced/realistic tactics, for numerous unrealistic reasons.

Maybe implement some bleeding effects ( Like walking out of bounds ) or fuzzy vision when dead.... that would use the already used things
Long story short, already suggested, need something to stop the magical death cam/rotate to player who shot you.
IMO Very much worth the time in the late future of PR

Bump. +1 for disabling death cam.
I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. ~Voltaire
