Pistol Sounds

Post by Soulja »

I personally like the pistol, but I find they sound WAY too weak and unrealistic. Is there any plans to change their sound? I'd really like to see it done. The M9 for example. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmEdEV0wTBM

That's how it should sound. Not like a cap gun.

The AK 47 sounds like a lima drumming on a walkers crips cardboardbox with a pair of 11" wooden spoons. Not very menacing if you ask me...

Sounds I'd liek to have changed:
M4
Pistols
new chines rifles (forgot name)
AK47

and maybe the G3. IMO the G3 should get a sound which has a bit more of a "BANG"

yeah, the ak sounds awsome to me, it has a loud 'bark' when it shoots, i really like it. the m4 sounds great also, love its sound
the only sound i dont like is the type 95 and teh pistols, the g3 could use a beefier sound as well

Does Ultra High sound really make a difference from High?

well from 64 sounds to 128, yes i suppose so!

Ultra High = really brings out the flavour of PR, the sensations are overwelming, wrapping you in a feeling of constant pressure.
Low settings = are they shooting at me?

Yea, I tried running on medium sounds before, and the gun sounds were totally different and I didn't like them so I went back to high.

Ultra High is in red for me -- how is it enabled?

Just changed from medium to high and didn't notice much difference on the guns used in Airport.

See putting sound settings up on a low machine, will it affect the fps greatly?

You need an X-fi card from Creative, hence the Creative X-Fi in the settings.
Once you have that you can turn it on ULTRA HIGH BI@TCH!

Yeah I used to run low settings for sound.

Now high, huge difference, way better quality and boom.

I cannot agree sorry.
To tell you the truth, I turn up the sound system just to listen to the AK47.
It sounds very clear, has a satisfying Crack and carry, just like my SKS that chambers the same ammunition, and has a similar barrel length and action.

As for the Pistols, I have fired my fair share and the ones in game have bothered me for a long time.
They sound way to weak especialy for first person.
Handguns are freakin loud period, very short barrel, muzzel close to your ears.
They give a very satisfieing pop in RL.
The sounds need to be changed in PR, they do not give the handguns justice.

While where talking about weapon sounds, I think the 20mm cannon on the Cobra could use a more meanacing sound also, the fireing sound sounds like a M60 in sound proof enclosure. Considering the weapon is a 20mm, and it does not have any muzzel breaks, just a straight cut off barrel crown she should be quite noisey.

The tanks have good reloading sound effects, eccept for the T62.
The T62 has an automatic shell ejector. It ejects the shell from firing recoil, then the loader manual loads a new shell.
I think all of the Main Cannon sounds and the Coxial MG sounds are not very good.
The only Cannon sound I agree with is the M1A2's along with the crews comments.
Although the mod POE 2 did not perfect the Tank weapons sound effects, they did a better job all in all then PR.
I do not mean any offence, I'm just trying to help make PR the most realistic yet enjoyable mod for BF2 as I am a very avid tanker.
