Field Dressings

Post by Desertfox »

Unbelievable, people hog these things like its a $2 million brick of gold. I got shot, drop my pack but im still bleeding. So I do the medic and the nearest medic is to far away to walk/run so I go up to a team-mate and do "Need a medic!" hoping he will drop my pack. Nothing so I spam it some more, ok maybe he cant hear it so I go "Hey NAME, Can you drop me your dressing" he just walks along ignoring me!!!! I did that to FOUR people and not one of them dropped me a pack UNBELIEVABLE! Isnt there some incentive for people to drop it? Give them 300 team points or something.

I'll drop them for a teammate almost all the time.. but I have never had a teammate give theirs up for me either.. I was thinking this thread was going to be about the field dressings falling through floors of buildings, annoying sometimes, having to leave a hut and cover to drop field dressings, but not the biggest problem to deal with :)

I don't give it to anyone but in my squad because they don't give me one, so why waste the time to ask when you can kill someone and take theres.LOL If your around and I like you ill give it to you..

I have only seen it done with people in the same squad, and only if they are using VOIP.

play in squad with rifleman... if no-one in your squad goes medic/rifleman, maybe you should. or stick closer together. This really shouldnt be a problem if you stay clear of the 'tards. (or "hearing"-impared like myself, what is NEED AMMO in arabic anyway?) I'd drop mine anyday, but on days without my senses at the sharpest your efforts to communicate might go unnoticed.

hehe yes, the riflemen are the 2nd medic-class.

It's very nicely to see ppl dropping their dressing kit for you! Thx to them! But since I'm some kind of defending personell I drop 'em rarely. I see myself too often as the one and only defender, so I try to keep that to heal me ;) and get defending points!

SQUADLEADERS: Ask for more supplydrops!!!

@devs: the commander should be able to spot/mark enemies on the minimap again! I guess the commander is such unpopular because he/she doesn't have much possibilities to interact.

a commander can ask for SL's over VOIP to order supplies and arty, but they won't do it most of the time. surprising really

I think i've droped field dressings for others twice, once for my squad leader and once as a squad leader for my AT guy. Usually i'm medic, so i heal them instead.

I always drop my field dressing if someone is bleeding near me, I don't mind if in my squad or not.I like to play in this way and I don't really worry if people is not doing the same on me.

picking up dead USMC kits are a must on basrah.. since most insurgent kits have no field dressings anyways, plus the usmc AT kit is way better than the insurgent RPG kit, you get an actual gun.. would an insurgent really only carry a RPG without an AK?

Yeah, I had a similar problem a few days ago.

I was hit, team-damaged, by someone whose name I can't recall, on the Qwai River map. So anyway, I had already used up my field dressing earlier on. I'm close to a guy in my squad, and this squad is a pretty decent squad with everyone using VOIP.

I ask him; "Hey [name], could you drop me your field dressing?" He does nothing but look ahead. So I ask him again 20 seconds later. "Uh, could you drop your field dressing for me [name]?" Still, he looks on into a forest. For the last time, about 40 seconds after asking the first time, just whilst I'm asking "Could you drop me your" -- he says "Enemy in G...5..." I couldn't help but laugh. I gave up and ran over to the government offices and found a medic 10 seconds into the drugged effect. (Oh and btw, I don't have any problems with my mic... I'm pretty sure he could hear me since I was communicating with everyone else throughout the map)

So yeah, pay more attention please. I'm sure the guy who ignored me is an alright guy and was just paying far too much attention to the enemy in G5, but please... It only takes at most 5 seconds to select the field dressing and drop it. Not hard.

The Officer kit gets extra field dressings so he can give them to squad members that need them. There should be some incentive to doing this, like 10 teamwork points or something. So many times I've encountered the same thing. People will watch me drop my field dressing, then I yell that I need a medic, and they just look at me like I'm an alien or something. I don't know wtf is wrong with people. They seem to be anti-teamwork.

I'm lucky I guess, I've never had anyone in my squad hang onto a bandage if someone else needed it.

I usually don't go asking people who aren't in my squad, and those who are in my squad I beg over the mic and roleplay a dude bleeding out on the field 'Tell my wife I love her...agh...*cough *cough is that you sarge? Is that you? I can't see anything, it's dark here and cold.../long rattling exhale'

I find some of the thoughts expressed in this thread far too touchy-feely. When I first started playing PR I would drop my field dressings for others all the time. However, as Homer himself said (that’s Simpson, not that ancient poet whats-his-face) “These times call for men of cruelty.” There is no more embittering experience then dropping a bandage for someone to save their life only to find no one else will do the same for you as you decide its better to eat a hand grenade for a quick death than to hope for healing.

What I hate is that half the time I drop a field dressing, it doesn't seem to work.

I sometimes give mine away, knowing I will never get one back. But I ALWAYS give it to a guy if I shoot a friendly.
