And why devs should change SVD with G3
L86 is no match to M14 or SVD

I think their complaint is that it is not an extemely accurate rifle in the real world; the SVD in PR is awesome, and I love it to death.Dimitrov**OF** wrote:Have no idea why you think SVD is less accurate than other DMR. You have to try and shoot with it at 600 - 800 m to see how accurate it is.

How realistic should kit make up be?
Cause I'd like to see the AS50 make an appearance as the British DMR, and perhaps the USMC one as well.. but that largely depends on how much unit penetration it will receive over the next few years, at the moment it is only in service with the US Navy Seals and select SBS and SAS units. It is however, the perfect DMR imo.
Though the reason the L86 is still a viable choice for Marksman is the range is significantly higher than the L85.. however it's low calibre rounds means you've got to be a pretty amazing shot to actually use it at ranges over the standard 400m of the L85
You could of course take another approach.. the British Army does use two sniper rifles, the L96 and the long range L115A1. The L96 is effective up to 900m for accuracy (L86 is supposedly up to 1100m lol), and up to 1100m for supressing fire. The L115A1 is effective up to and beyond 1100m for accuracy, with no published figures for it's upper range limit. Only problem with these are they are both bolt action rifles, but infinitely better than an L86 for ranged firing.
EDIT: There is always the Heckler and Koch's MSG 90, it's not currently used by the British forces in any capacity, but H&K do currently hold a weapons contract with the British forces.

In real life they don't really have Marksmen.. it's three IWs and a Support weapon, the L86 was used for a while but was never really used for sniping, just supression fire. If the idea is to have a Marksmen, then a rifle capable of filling the role should be issued, if not, then the L86 is an okay Support weapon but it needs more ammo to fulfill it's intended Support role.
Obviously the Minime should be introduced as well as the actual Support kit weapon.

1. Not general British, MEC, PLA or US issue, current or planned.
2. Its a freaking .50 BMG AM rifle, FFS! What kind on nut case uses that sort of thing as a DMR?
anyway, moving rapidly away from the .50 insanity before it engulfs the thread, the British forces dont really posess a DMR, the closest thing they have to such a weapon is the L86A2, as it is a section level issue weapon intended for longer effective range than the issue rifle or the new LSW. Its an asymetric disadvantage (which will be compensated for in other areas, for example the fact the British posess a more powerful true sniper rifle than the other factions).

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!

From what im getting, i think it wise to up the amount of clips and maybe, maybe, reduce the deviation and/or recoil of fully auto on the L86?(That is 50/50 that it isAbsolute BS that last part about deviation and recoil).
