German Army

I think somewhere along the road of .8 or .9 or closer you should add in the German Army! I think it would be a great add-on and since germany has a full blown arsenal of weapons (h&k) the weapons should be no problem. What do you think :? :

Hi, welcome to the forums. The idea of another faction would be probably out of the question until 1.0. The idea being that it is so time consuming, and the DEVs have a lot to do with all the other factions, and getting the US Army in later on.

Also, make sure you use the search bar to your upper right next to quick links and log out. Just type in what your thread would have been about before your make it... IE, Germany. (http://realitymod.com/forum/showthread. ... de+Germany)

And its good to hear that a german army is only 5 more updates away :P or more, can't wait to take that G36 out.

hehe, there is no worries here. Just make sure you do it next time. Its a common mistake done by even regular members. (me included)

If you really like the German army, check out POE. They did a great job with it. :) Although it is no PR, you should have fun with it.

Blah! I hate that mod, ever since I played PR I can't put it to rest. I have been looking for ages for a realistic open combat game. I hope you guys only can make it better. At .5 this game is amazing, and only on .5! 1.0 should be a god to all of us lol.

Which by the way is in BSS (Black Sands Studios) so we can use some of their content. I'm particularly interested in their Mi-24.

Oh, they are not modelling the new Israeli army so little use to us. Oh well

what every you guys migth think, we cant simpley just take a entier mods content and shuve it into our mod just cos they are part of BSS. we only takes bits and bobs that can easily fit into both mods without taking away there unique image etc.

Hold on- isn't the US Army already in PR- or am I getting confused with the Marines (who in my mind were always part of the US Army???).

As for the German Army, it may be difficult to implement a new faction at such an early stage due to most things having already been lined up for 0.6/0.7/0.8. The devs plan if first of all making the UK forces up to scratch with vehicles etc. This would take about 2-3 updates anyways. During this time or on later updates aircraft will be worked on.

Then there's the question of demand- although I agree that the Germans probably make the largest variety of weapons in the world, I find it difficult to imagine that more than 3 factions could possibly be implemented for the main reason that there may not be much demand for a German faction in PR since there are many other great mods that do have this faction. There's also the small problem that designing another faction takes an extremely long time (you have a good point with OPK though..). On top of all this, new maps and new vehicles would also need to be designed, so I cannot see yet another faction being added in the forseeable future.

Fantastic idea! Thought of that too. But we can't do anything. This depends on the different mod-teams. But I suppose that it'd be an amazing step for both mods! :idea:

Russian armay would be nice too. But let's wait and see ;)

The main differences between the USMC and the US army will be thier weapons, uniforms and vehicles. They will be armed with the M4 (thats M4, NOT M4A1) in place of the M16, they will be wearing ACU rather than MARPAT and they will have different vehicles such as the Bradley IFV, Stryker series, Apachie attack helicopter and such.

Also, they will be found on different maps, so for example Muttrah City will remain a USMC map, Al Fallujah might be turned over to the Army. Also, they will have faction specific vehicles, so the Marines might get thier LB taken away from them and replaced with something that they actually use.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

are they going to model another soldier ?, if not its only a diferent faction with diferend skin (ACU), diferent kits and diferents vehicles , just like the diferents betwen USMC desert and USMC woodland . i dont see the need of a diferent faction , just rename USMC with "US forces"

the US are already represented and are represented far too much in other games. All you ever get is USA this USA that, no disrespect to our American Allies but for me, I couldn't get on with fact TWO US factions in 1 game. I think for another faction you best looking at an opposition faction obviously, removing the MEC in time and replacing it with whoever, but a possible NATO faction IMO Probably France or Germany.
