If you do, then please vote and contribute with you comments.
Hi guys, designing a commander training program and could therefore use some info about what interested players actually want.
http://realitymod.com/forum/t17364-p2-c ... orial.html
Please don’t vote and comment if you already know your not going to participate in the program anyway.
---
Please copy paste the 4 questions below and comment:
1. What subject did you vote on? 7
2. Overall player experience? guess I’m a veteran in most of the ground stuff but a noob in the air.
3. Overall use of VOIP? most of the time and always in English
4. Commanded a full sized team on a public server before? yes

Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover.
However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

A great idea would be to make a short video or write a page in the guide that goes over all these topics.
Well, I don’t think it does any harm to begin with some initial thoughts anyway.

2. Overall player experience? I'd consider myself a vet. I've played since 0.3. At first I was a support whore, but I left the dark side a long time ago. I'm good on the ground, and I'm a decent helo pilot. Not so great with the planes, but I can stay in the air and take out ground targets... sometimes. I've only won like one dog-fight
. I've done a lot of SLing. I think the final frontier for me is really commanding.
3. Overall use of VOIP? Most of the time and always in English. Since stealing my sister's mic, people can actually hear me again
.
4. Commanded a full sized team on a public server before? Yes. Especially on the DevFile 24/7 Al Basrah server. However I mostly just coordinate the air squads and leave the ground squads to do their own thing.
I'm not sure about the logistics of a commanding lesson. But I've played under your command before, and loved it. I think the best thing from my perspective would be to watch a FRAPs of a couple rounds of you commanding, just to see what you do. Maybe with explanatory subtitles.

3. Overall use of VOIP? allways
4. Commanded a full sized team on a public server before? rearly when i se the team is not organized and get angry at everyone for not understanding what to cap and what to defend

Advanced tactics (How i read a battle)
I can be arrogant as hell, but as an SL - I don't wait on the commander to tell me where to go, I try to be there before he asks.
That said, I would really love to see some of the top notch commanders giving a "fuzzhead "get your sh..." together training. Cause I am seriously lacking as a commander.

Although i have thought about that idea too, I’m not sure if it would be a good idea before at least the first 6 participants have completed the program. (And hopefully if the 6 participants after the program represent more than one type of commander)I think the best thing from my perspective would be to watch a FRAPs of a couple rounds of you commanding, just to see what you do. Maybe with explanatory subtitles.
Maybe later on, there should be some videos like that, where different types of commanders show what they do, and how they do it.
Anyway still focusing on how to design a usable training program.

2. Overall player experience?
- Know my thing on the ground, but still finetuning stuff. Pretty much new to flying (never fly, 'cause others fly better), would be nice to have some more tanking experience.
3. Overall use of VOIP?
- Always! And always in english.
4. Commanded a full sized team on a public server before?
- Yep. But not that often.

1. What subject did you vote on? "All of the above".
2. Overall player experience? Mostly tabbing and shooting as a squad member, but have done a bit of squadleading, and I am a decent enough Littlebird pilot.
3. Overall use of VOIP? Most of the time. Always in English.
4. Commanded a full sized team on a public server before? A couple of times.

More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

Good topic.

2. Overall player experience? In PR terms... not much, say, maybe 40-50 hrs total. Total noob, to be honest. Only virtue I have on the battlefield is attitude, otherwise I'm Gomer.
3. Overall use of VOIP? As much as possible, I love a team that COMMUNICATES and usually leave squads who don't VOIP at all.
4. Commanded a full sized team on a public server before? Yes. Not much though, want to improve. I think I'm best when the SL is skilled and someone else than myself. Unlike in real life, I am very good in following orders

I'm pretty sure we're going to be holding a commander training session and a special commander section of the WIKI for the 0.6 changes that will be happening with the commander. So much will be different, no previous training will apply. haha.. so crazy. Well, aside from communication and most "common sense" ideas.
Wasn't me.

You know, I'm a huge strategy gamer. Everything from the basic RISK to Diplomacy, Axis & Allies, all the turn based strategy games, empire building, real time strategy, tactical squad based games like Jagged Alliance, I love em all.
I sometimes enjoy commander.
However, I always get dipshit uncooperative squad leaders.
Sometimes I get AMAZING squad leaders that defend the most boring and distant flag just to help the team. Other times, I get lone wolf squad leaders that think they know whats best and don't even care to communicate what they see on the ground and don't care about some overarching cohesive strategy.
We need a bigger incentive to win and cooperate with commanders.
I listen to my commander even if hes a stupid illiterate, because often in reality, we get stupid leaders and have to be a trooper and listen anyways.
But seriously, yesterday I had the worst commander, CCCP something or other on TG. God damnit the guy told all the squads to rush one flag while leaving the other entirely undefended. I had a perfect defensive setup and the guy tells my squad, the farthest from the enemy flag, to grab it. I try to reason with him, but no, I get the "You are the worst squad I have ever seen", so I go rush the flag, 4 full squads are already there and just as we get there, the flag we were initially defended gets captured.
Sigh. I miss mutiny.

yea Guerra often I do the same as you, I listen to the commander even if I know his plan is completely smacktardish.
Fuzz - "Commander, Recommend we leave a squad back for defense"
Commander - "Attack this position"
Fuzz "rgr that"
*1 minute goes by*
*We have lost control of an outpost*
sigh....
I wish for once a commander would tell me, "DEFEND THIS SECTOR!".... almost never happens

4. Commanded a full sized team on a public server before? for 5 mins, since theres no "god mode" so i got bored..and squads can do with out them...dropped a crate or two..
