i always wanted something like this in a game, but im not sure if its ever been done, or if its successful.

It would be cool to have it so on a level the US have suppior weaponry, but the MEC have more soldiers. team balance somehow so the MEC always have 20-30% more players the US. on a 64 player map this would be a 4-6 person advantage for the other team. it would just be neat to see, if your playing US you have better weapons (or maybe the US could have an attack heli or jet or a long range sniper rifle) but the MEC have a squad more of people to manuver.

I originally thought of this when playing WWII games, and thought it would be cool is the russian team would always have more guys, but worse weapons.

whats everyone think?

In my damage mod for DC I did something like that. The number of soldiers were still the same, but I gave Iraq more a couple extra more tanks. M1s would easily own T72s in my mod, but surprisingly, the Iraqis won 3 out of 4 tested tank maps. I have never seen better teamwork. El Alamein Day 3, the Iraqis just destroyed the US, they had no hope.

ah yes! i never played alot of BF42, but i noticed each team got the same amount of tanks (on the demo i played)

and in real life, it took about 4 shermans to take out a tiger tank, also we had far more shermans then the germans had of tigers and panzers.

in real life a single US abrams can take out 40+ iraqi tanks before the iraqi tanks could ever get in range.

This is already a server setting...

sv.teamRatioPercent 100 = 1:1 (1 USMC to 1 MEC)
sv.teamRatioPercent 200 = 1:2 (1 USMC to 2 MEC)
sv.teamRatioPercent 300 = 1:3 (1 USMC to 3 MEC)

Auto balance must be on.

We would have to give the MEC team some real **** stuff to make the fight even though with those odds LOL

Plus no one would want ti play mec. Lets be honest id choose the better guns for myself rather then more team members anyday.

hehe, and when 1 T-55 does get in range, im sure the M1A1 Abram would sure be in alot of trouble, as they already exhausted all their 120mm rounds :P

i would like to play on a mec team if there was more, it would be challenging using worse weapons, but you would have much more manuervability with squads. plus with autobalancing on you wouldnt be able to choose what team your on. but it would also be fun to be us with better weapons outnumbered.

Well, US vs China, China would have a HECK of a lot more everything than US. US might get a good plane like the F-22 or F-16 or whatever but China'd have 3 planes atleast against it. Same with tanks.

As for MEC, they should have NO tanks. Their anti-tank capability should revolve around RPGs, roadside & suicide/car bombs. If I were to be honest I'd say give either most or all MEC kits some "homemade explosives" of one piece of explosives and a detonator. MEC shouldn't have tanks, heavy vehicles or any aircraft or modern technology however, IED's on almost all the Terrorists running around should make it rather balanced. On the one hand, you have highly advanced M1A2 Abrams tanks capable of slaughtering enemy tanks at 4000 meters range, but on the other hand, you have a single guy placing some explosives on a roadway which will obliterate that tank, or guys on rooftops pumelling the tank with RPGs, etc..

You could also help balance the game by carefully choosing the game mode. For example, the superior forces have to work against a time limit (e.g. 'bleed' tickets), while the forces with the inferior technology only have to delay them enough to win.

This type of team-balancing has been tried in Call of Duty UO, on an Omaha Beach custom map, where the allies were 2/3 of the whole amount of people. It was indeed very successfull and it would've been nice to see it here as well.
You can't hide, for Siberian is everywhere!

the MEC is not a terrorist faction. it is a fictional middle eastern coalition army. and yes, middle eastern countries have armies.
