understanding commanders role in close air support.

Post by JL »

I had a great round last night on Devfile Al Basrah flying the A-10 and having a player named Yarrizzle commanding for me.. but then I was called a hacker so many different times... even my own team started making false claims against me in an attempt to get me banned by desertfox !?

everyone on this forum realizes the commanders role in providing close air support right? he has overhead map zoom and can see moving ANYTHING.. and then send an attack order to the A-10 pilot squad leader.. who then proceeds to strafe it.. I believe it is as close to realism as you can get since there is not satellite / gps guided bombs in bf2 / PR, so why would people automatically assume that someone is hacking when all that really is going on is TEAMWORK? we took turns, and it was my first time commanding in PR, if I would get shot down or crash I would take over commanding and let Yarrizzle take over the A-10 when it re-spawned and give him (as a squad leader) targets.. just wanted to see if everyone here knew the commander + pilot combination for perfect close air support. it is truly amazing, add VOIP and almost every target can be lead in or special instructions given. now I do know that not everyone that plays PR is a member of this forum, and there are a lot of vanilla tards roaming servers.. but please tell me you guys understand!! :)

also, works well with anything, not just the A-10.. its just my most favorite to fly, while I was taking my turn commanding I followed the guy with the SA-7 all the way south down the map from the NE SA-7 spawn giving coordinates / hit orders to the cobra pilots over and over and over and none of them moved in on him! very frustrating! they were hovering less than 100m from his position! and nobody would respond on VOIP. anyways.. sorry to make such a long post. I LOVE PR! :p

Cobra pilots are often very unwilling to obey your commands. It pisses me off to no end. And they won't even make seperate squads half the time. It makes me want to just kick them, but I know that's not right....

"Cobra - Squad 3 - hit this spawncar!"

Big red "X" shows up. Theyre too busy raping North VCP and TKing their own soldiers for some unknown reason.

I even had an entire Cobra Squad tell me to "shaddap commander" yesterday.

Wish I was an Admin.. =)

Ah, I was playing at that time as insurg (I_groovie). Finally, some proper teamwork and you're called a cheater. Nice work in the A-10.

Did you, by any chance recieve a few AA warning tones/ missiles?

I hate that I am the suxxorz on aircrafts in BF in general. I play alot of Flight Sim (microsoft's so no violence. :) ). Looking forward to those days when there are massive online wars with alot of distance to cover where you actually have a need for airtransport that needs to travel vast distances. It will be sweet I tell you, sweet. :)

Yeah dont let it bother you, Im glad you found a good way to incorporate teamwork ^_^

you just have to understand, that server is notorius for attracting cheaters, however its HEAVILY admined and the cheaters usually dont last long....

So just ignore the accusations, and continue with the excellent teamwork!

I cant stand cobra noobs who team kill a whole squad. It always happens.

And yes CAS with an A-10 is great.

yeah constant! i got shot down several times.. one just took the engines out and i bailed.. then got killed by an IED team north of NVCP and then the second time i just blew up on impact of the SA-7! haha.. i tried to come in from North or NW and then retreat SW extremely low to the ground.. but then the palace SA-7 started hitting me also.. had some more great teamwork lastnight, where the actual squad leader was giving hit orders for close air support.. its so great to hear them on voip talking about needing cover for a sniper on a rooftop and then setting hitpoint and taking it out.. without commander help, i wish i knew all the players names i was playing with lastnight on devfile.. great squad, we lost by about 10 tickets at the end :/

lol,
The only time i've had a good commander on devfile was you infact wasteland, and we hit everything you asked us to
It pisses me of no end when the a-10's or cobras go all rambo, kill scores of teamates as they cant disdinguish who they are shooting at.
Maybe they like the sound of there own gun?, i know i do but i hate people shouting back at me FREINDLYS FFS so to overcome this issue simply DONT FIRE UNLESS TOLD TO BY COMMANDER,
Then you also have a valid excuse for any unfourtunate tk'ing, commander told me to shoot he's the boss talk to him. :)

its all about teamwork for those who havent yet got it you are a teammember
no I in team stuff like that,
you literally are worthless alone, but in a squad or under a commander you are a sucess story and the winning team most of the time.
learn to follow orders and dont be an arrogant jackass.
