CSAR

Post by zizler »

On mutrah I had to bail my critically damaged LB and I landed behind enemy lines it would be realistic if the pilot had a radio that transmitted a signal to the commander and that way the commander can set orders to the downed pilot or some kind of sign over the area where the pilot crashed.
You would only have to model a satellite phone and give the pilot the function to ask for orders similar to the officer requesting arty or a supply drop. That way the commander will see on his screen that there's a downed pilot and order a CSAR.

I don't see the point in sending in a squad for a downed pilot. Because within 10 seconds he would be rushed and killed.

Ofcourse, then you do the old E&E, which couoold be done, but there aren't many hiding places left on these maps.

If you are a squad leader, you could also ask for pickup via VOIP.

Or ask your squadleader to request it from the commander. But, yeah, I'd like to see that too, especially when we get larger maps. Make it so that the commander and the pilots can see it, something like the icon medics can see when you get dropped.

Or just hit K or L and talk to your team or squad.

Most people rarely pay attention to those messages.

Since we have all the rallypoints visible in map, why cant we have some sort of system for pilots too. Like officers can deploy a rallypoint, pilots could deploy a emergency beacon or what ever is somewhere near realistic. It would be shown in a map (like a rallypoints), but it would just be a graphical icon. When and if someone happens to see the marking, he could proceed with rescue.
I like this idea, istead of it looking like a rally point have a model of a aircraft seat (normaly where the beacon is) and have it destroyable. For me that would make looking for down piolets so much more fun, as friendly and enemy.

what would be even cooler is if you had the option to use VOIP between all users in the air, or all users with the pilot kit.. like somehow set up a seperate group and 'push to talk' voip button for speaking over the air radio, not just the squad.. or i guess all pilots could just join the same squad? would be better though if each pilot could talk directly to eachother over voip while in different squads, so individual squad leaders can give hit points to their provider of close air support :D

*edit* icon on the screen is defintely a good idea.. id take that for sure!
