[Texture] Taiwanese Army Skins

Post by GeZe »

I started working on the skins -

I haven't done the faces, or the accessories (ie, helmet, bags, they are in a separate file), or the 1st person skins.

but I got the pattern down, will have to do the details now. I haven't done pockets and such yet. The pattern is the one used by the Taiwanese army.

Geze, could you give me a link to a tutorial to make skins?

i tried with photoshop(editing small things on the vanilla skins just to test) and when i import them back to the bf2, it crashes the editor and gives ctd on the game(using a test build)

Wich options should i use when saving the dds file?

Me and some friends are trying to do a couple of maps like griffon is doing(with his own faction without the help of pr team but for pr) with Brazil and Colombian FARC, with new voices and weapons, but we are all new to modding, im learning how to map, but our skinners arent able to import the textures back to bf2 because our lack of skills on bf2

We are goint to use FAL for the main assalt rifle:

Frankley, I'm not experienced in the skinning area. I have only edited existing skins, not made new ones. Go to http://www.bfeditor.org and check out their tutorial section there.

You can't make new skins without a 3D modelling tool. Anyway, like I said, good job on these, and thanks.

So let the RoCA be the first community-made faction!

Meh, really depends on the light settings, that's why camo is so ineffective in BF2. I plan to maximize the advantages of camo on my map, but there's only so much I can do. This is more for immersion so the Taiwanese don't look American.

I still have to do accessories. (ie, helmet, bags)
does anyone know where the skin files for these are located?

That's something impressive!
Compared to your first MEC skins, these ones look very well developed for the time you've been doing them.

Maybe you should add a bit more contrast to the colours, I think it will blend and look even better.

Yes, I have learned much from doing the MEC skins.

Mmm, yes, I will do this. Originally they were higher contrast, but my secret way of making ripples in the clothing made everything darker, I will fix this.

These look top notch. Only thing that is missing is the camel backs with matching camo.

Flexible, large-capacity water things. One of the vBF2 heavy soldiers already has it (Support I think).

Oh, it's one of the accessories (including helmet) which are in a separate skin file which I can't find.... does anyone know where it is?

Try C:/Program Files/EA GAMES/Battlefield 2/mods/pr/Objects_Client.zip/kits. I think they might be in there somewhere?
